AlkiMacParticipantI’ve always had great service at Camera Techs in Ballard.
Cheers.

KevinParticipantI have heard good things about Camera Clinic in Shoreline. I recently called around for an estimate on fixing an old classic camera, and their ball park phone estimate was much more reasonable than the other Seattle area shops I called.

LindseyParticipantAs long as you’ve had your camera for more than a year (no longer covered by warranty), my first recommendation would be Phototronics on Dexter Ave North, second Camera Techs in Ballard.

clark5080Participantsend it to nikon

waterworldParticipantA photographer friend of mine uses Camera Clinic and has been very happy with the knowledge, service, and price.

CarsonParticipantIt also depends on what type of camera. Most point and shoots are probably not worth repairing, especially if its a few years old and you can buy a better one for the price of a repair. I can’t imagine any repair costing less that $50 no matter where you send it

tom kelleyParticipantI have a Nikon 5700 that I took to Camera Tech in Ballard. They informed that there was a recall on that particular model and even looked up the Nikon address for me. They could have said that they could fix it and sent it to Nikon and charged me for repairs but didn’t. These are honest, knowledgeable dudes that will take the time to give out expert advice. I won’t go anywhere else.

HunterGParticipantHate to ask, but what is wrong with it?

Donna Ryan PhotographyMemberI always use Phototronics but will check out the other businesses suggested after reading this post.

JoBParticipanti am really glad someone brought this up.
i have an older digital kodak that i have to repair because finding a digital with an optical lens to replace it has become a real game of hide and seek..
it will be cheaper to fix the camera.

islanderMemberIt’s a Nikon D60, little over a year old, so worth fixing if less than a couple bills.
HUNTERG: it recently got a little too wet and is giving an error message, although i can view pics. Just can’t take any new ones. hmmm.

LindseyParticipantWater damage? Don’t send it to Nikon. They can’t do anything about water damage. There are packets that you can buy, called Save A Phone, that will dry it out over the course of 24-72 hours, but is ideal when used immediately after the camera got wet. A D60 should fit in one. A kit lens would also fit in the drying packet, and would likely suck the moisture out of the lens to stop any further damage.
I’d avoid turning it on until you take it in for repair, and remove the battery, lens and memory card as soon as possible.
I really hope your D60 and lens both survive! :(

lizruMemberHmm. Water and electronics, bad! The photogs I’ve worked with in the past have always used Glazers in the South Lake Union area. I checked their website and apparently, they no longer do any onsite repairs, but have researched quality repair shops and you only deal with Glazers. Good luck!

ellenaterMemberHave had great luck with Camera Techs. Old school service. Highest recommendation.

Jesse SMemberEven though it’s a DSLR (much more fixable than a Point and Shoot), the D60 is a fairly old model and it might not be worth it, especially with water damage.
But it might also just be some corrosion on the lens contacts. Have you tried it with another lens? If the screen still works then you’ve got a good chance, I’d say.

mrhinehMemberWhle this does not relate to Nikon’s, anyone with an old or broken Canon should consider using their Customer Loyalty program. They do some nice upgrades with refurbished products on broken camera’s (even abused or worn out ones). Canon is great for that. (BTW, does anyone have a broken one they don’t use anymore?)

FranciParticipantAnother great option is Glazers, they are located in South Lake Union just off Hwy 99.
