Our nanny has just put in her 2 weeks notice and we think its time to move to a small daycare setting. I’m terrified at the process but think the interaction with more kids might just be a good new step for us. Does anyone have a daycare they absolutely love or can highly recommend. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

We use Learning for Life on 32nd and Webster. Ms Anna is amazing, but she has a pretty long wait list. There is a serious shortage of quality daycare in W Seattle right now, hence long wait lists at most places. I would get your name on as many as possible as soon as you can. Good larger centers are Fauntleroy Childrens and Mt. St. Vincents, although both are more expensive than a home setting.

Shelly Frederickson with Loving Hands Child Care is amazing, and very small family oriented.

    Hi future daycare mom,

I am Mindi, the owner of a small in-home daycare over on Fauntleroy. Our daycare is called The Munchkin Junction daycare and our very outdated website is: http://www.munchkinjunction.com

Our daycare is run by 2 moms and each and every day we feel privileged to have the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of a child, to join in their laughter, and to be included in their games. This is how we have chosen to spend our days. Being mom’s we both understand how difficult it must be to leave your child in someone else’s care. Because of this, we can appreciate the trust you must put in us on a daily basis. We view our chosen profession as a career, not as just a job and we love what we do.

We take children over the age of 18 months and often can take part time schedules.

Feel free to drop us a note and good luck in your search !

You can try Craig’s List, Seattle, Childcare, then West Seattle search. There are quality day cares listed there with openings. Also, West Seattle Family Zone, or West Seattle PEPS websites.

Hi!! I have provided child care in my home for the past 8 years for friends and neighbors who have had to return to work. I live in the Admiral area and currently have a 2 year old I am looking after. I am hoping to find another family who is in need of care and a possible playmate for my current kiddo. I have a 9 and 13 year old of my own who are always buzzing about as well. I am happy to take the kids I care for out to activities and classes and love spending time with

them. I try hard to make it the bet of both worlds with a home environment as well as going out and socializing in the

world and with other kids. If this sounds like a good fit please

feel free to contact me at mfandjf@gmail.com Thanks!!

When choosing childcare you should check out the DEL (department of early learning) web page. They have an area for parents, and look at “child check”. You input the providers name and phone number, then you can see if there are any valid complaints on file, and how they were resolved.

i am a parent that has a child that was abused in a “licensed child care”. My son is now 28 years old and fine now. But he became a non speaker for 3 years, 2-5 years old.

I cannot say enough about how wonderful Loving Hands Childcare & Preschool is. I had my son there for two years while I was working full time. I decided to stay home after my second was born (for financial reasons), or both of my boys would be going there. Shelly and her assistants are the best. They are attentive, loving, and totally engaged with all the children (one thing I really liked was that she does not have a TV!) The kids are making crafts, doing circle time, playing, etc. My son really blossomed during his time there. He learned so many social skills and ways to positively interact with people. Shelly was always available to answer any questions and followed any special requests I had. I was so nervous to be putting my son in daycare, but Shelly was so supportive and transparent – it made the process so much easier. Hope this helps!
