@JT – no offense taken, I said I’d never looked at the bag. :)

@flowerpetal – have you tried splitting your bag into two airtight containers? The second one stays fresh(er) while you use up the first one. Also, are you using opaque or clear containers? Opaque is better, but I use clear and simply keep it in the cupboard instead of on the counter. Sunlight is bad for coffee beans no matter how airtight your container is.

@oddreality – thanks for the sweetmarias tip! I have an old air popcorn popper and think about roasting my own every now and again. Maybe I’ll treat myself with a green bean purchase and see how it goes!

flowerpetal – I remember that there are not a lot of Cupcake Royal fans on this forum, so I hesitant to recommend Stumptown for that reason.

Too bad that is currently (as far as I know) where you can get it near-by.

I think it’s time they opened a cafe in WS!!

Hopey, thanks for the idea of two air tight containers. Makes sense… something I don’t always do! I am using an airtight container and it is kept in a cabinet.

NR, I’m glad that you posted about Stumptown at CR even if you were hesitant. I have no ethical issue with Cupcake Royale; I simply don’t like their products. So, thanks for letting us know!

hopey, you should try it! Maybe you can get a few green beans from a roaster , some will sell you some . It takes about 7-9 minutes to roast in popper.Just do not over do it!!Got to watch the beans carefully!

I forgot to mention the dog bowl /heat gun method of roasting or the heat gun/bread machine method. The Australians love those methods as you can read on Coffeesnobs.com. They have ton of good coffee info on their site as do Coffeegeek.com and Homebarista.com.

It is really easy to get bitten by the home coffee roasting bug.:)
