While I was driving northbound on 405 Saturday, a large pebble struck the windshield of our 2012 Subaru Outback with enough force to cause a ding. A few minutes later, one part spiderwebbed out to an ~6″ long crack. Sad times. Lucky for us, the ding starts really low and in the center of the windshield, so even though the crack is not tiny, its location does not interfere with the driver’s line of sight.

Any recommendations for a shop that can seal this to prevent further spreading?

There’s a guy at the Jiffy Lube near the junction who works on windows. Also, check with Carter Subaru (Ballard), they have a reliable person who has a mobile window repair business, but I don’t know the name.

Subarus seem to be notorious for weak windshields. I’ve always gone to Novus in Burien to replace mine. They will check with your car insurance company to see if you are covered or can at least get a discount. They also used to give out little round stickers which you could put on a fresh ding to prevent it from spreading.
