What about contacting a museum that specializes in the preservation of older textiles? They might be able to suggest someone locally or you might have to ship it somewhere else.

I would also suggest speaking with someone at the Japanese Cultural Center or at our local Chinese Garden. Sorry, but I was not able to find a center for cultural exchange with India here in Seattle. These cultures have a rich textile history, particularly in silk and may be able to give some guidance.

A thought…If this garment has value to you, is it insured? Should it be before attempting to have to cleaned and preserved?
Best of luck to you!
