I have a 1938 Wedgewood estate model range that I need someone to work on. I have called many, many places and finally got ABC Appliance Repair to come out last summer, and now they tell me they won’t work on old stoves anymore. (It took me 3 months to find them and I don’t want to have to start over.)

Right now I need help with my pilot light on the second oven. It keeps going out and tripping the shut-off, so I have to stand next to the oven and constantly relight. I know there are some places to adjust the gas flow to the pilot light but it doesn’t seem to help.

If you know of anyplace or anyone (like some old guy in your family who used to work on stoves) who could help me, please, please, please let me know. I’ll sign whatever liability waver, or even if you can just teach me how to do it myself that would be fine. I love this range but the fact that I can’t get anyone to even talk to me about it is driving me crazy.

    Thanks!

I can’t think of the name of the used appliance place in Burien; but I guess that he would do repairs as well as sell. I’ve seen some pretty old stuff in there.

We cook on a ’55 Westinghouse, double oven stove. It is sweet but dying.

The Burien shop is on Ambaum, right hand side going south, maybe around 152nd.

Thanks for all the responses! I’ve actually used the old appliance club for parts, but I’ve never been able to get a name of a local service person or shop out of them. (And I’ve had long conversations about this stove with them–at least they support my crazy devotion to it!)

And someday, when I can give it up for 6 months and double my investment, I will send it to Homestead for a complete rehab. Alas, now I need someone to just come to my house and make it work.

I’ll check into the place in Burien, though. I like to take road trips down there.
