BayouMemberI’m looking for an affordable landscaper on the west side. I need some general yard maintenance done and would like to have a stone path set. I’d also like to have a long term landscape plan drawn up. Any suggestions?

swParticipantCall Mitch Monetti at Monetti Landscaping – 938-5400. He did some work for us last year that was great, and priced comparably to other bids we had. He’s also done some work for others around the neighborhood that has turned out nicely.

hammyMemberI want to recommend Guy and Lee who just completed work on our rather large yard. The yard required a ton of pruning, trimming and cleanup and they accomplished this quickly, efficiently and in an affordable manner. Our yard looks better than it has since we moved in several years ago. We have had other people in to work on our yard and this is definitely the nicest job. There is an artistry to pruning and these folks were able to show that. The other plus is that they are excellent communicators (returning calls right away, showing up on time, checking in regarding work etc). All around a good experience and I would definitely recommend. Contact email is: glocson@hotmail.com

kellymParticipantLaura LaPlante atlauralaplante.com Can’t rave about her enough. She’s wonderful to work with and won’t try to upsell your plans…her plant knowledge and her great eye for design combine to make really lovely ‘real’ gardens.

kaydMemberKellym, do you know if Laura does just general clean up [or can refer to someone?] – her site is lovely & we might speak with her about design down the road but our yard is an overgrown mess and we’re looking for someone to just come in and weed/clean things up first! Hammy, do you have a phone number as well for Guy and Lee? Sounds like that might be what we’re looking for in the short term.

TishMemberI’d love that info as well. I can’t afford to tackle my yard for another six months, but in my case, I have nothing but a large rectangular fenced in yard that is devoid of anything but grass. I would like to find an affordable landscape artist who can help me create a vision for the space that is beautiful, yet practical.
Also, if you recommended a particular landscaper, can you please explain why in a little more detail? Thanks!

berthaParticipantWhat is the going rate for general yard clean up, not landscaping? I too need work done but have little extra cash.

kellymParticipantlaura does have an assistant that she uses on her big jobs that will also do yard cleanup. she’d be happy to coordinate or put in you contact with him I suspect….drop her an email.
I’ve recommended Laura having first hand knowledge of working with her. My garden is on her website. I love that she is West Seattle local, committed to organic, environmentally favorable gardening practises. I’ve recommended her to others with equally good results.

hopeyParticipanthammy, thanks for the lead on Guy & Lee. It is hard to find people who will *just* do yard cleanup and don’t want to do fancy-schmancy landscaping. The only other provider I’d found was Ken’s Yard Service — local and family owned, but pricey — and my yard is too large for “odd jobs” folks to be efficient. Hopefully Guy & Lee will come up with a reasonable bid!
