I’ve always wanted to learn to play the guitar and I’m hoping somebody out in WS Blog land has a good local recommendation.

Richie Jenkin is an awesome guitar teacher.

    Disclosures:

    A) He taught our son for a while (son lost interest in guitar, but enjoyed working with Richie)

    B) He is an off-and-on WSB sponsor

And a nice guy. Home-based studio in Alki area.

I would recommend finding out what style the instructor prefers and make sure your interest fits with that. I took a class through ASUW Experimental College when I lived in the north end and the instructor was very Kumbaya and very throwback to the 60s and didn’t really resonate or interest me or much of the class which was a mix of adult community members and frat bros from Greek Row.

I have a good friend who specializes in beginner lessons. He’s Ballard based but travels too.
