CaitParticipantHello everyone! I was at West 5 last night enjoying an (always) lovely meal when I remembered that I had been meaning to post this little reminder for quite some time…
The backs of the seats in the booths are wiggly! Must you rear back in your seat like a spooked horse every single time you get in or get out of your seat? Please by mindful of your interactions with your seatbacks and know that I am feeling absolutely every time you so much as tap them and it disrupts my meal and conversation.
Thank you and enjoy.

JanSParticipantare you saying someone’s chair kept hitting yours? I hate when that happens. We should all be aware of what is around us…and who is around us.

CaitParticipantNo, it’s the partitions between the booths that serve as backrests. They aren’t stable and they are shared – so any time someone leans back on one it throws the person on the other side forward. It’s… highly annoying. But I will put up with it for the chocolate souffle… but I’d love to not have to :)

KBearParticipantJust order yourself another drink each time someone disturbs you. Soon everyone will be happy.

redblackParticipantdoes dean, the proprietor, read this forum? he’s a really nice fellow, and would probably be receptive to any complaints or suggestions regarding his furniture.

JiggersMemberI never went back there because of those uncomfortable yellow seats. Gawd are they aweful to sit in. No support whatsoever!

CaitParticipantOh, I hadn’t thought about that. Perhaps he does… Huge fan of your place, Dean! My issue isn’t so much with the seats themselves but that people aren’t aware that they move.
If it’s something that a few mai tais can fix though… carry on… :)

KimberleyParticipantI thought West 5 was owned by two people? I believe one of them, Dave is also heavily involved in the Junction association. Perhaps bring this to his attention the next time you see him at the end of the bar (he’s a nice enough guy).

c@lbobMemberWell, I sit at the tables, myself. For me, the yellow seats are only uncomfortable at the bar. I’d prefer it if they had regular bar stools.
I guess the owners should take note that the novelty of the retro decorations has worn off, replaced with the realization of why they became retro.
That won’t stop me from placing my body in any of the seats at West 5, of course, My experience has been that there are plenty of others there to fill them.

SemeleParticipantI like West 5 as well, however, avoid going there for that exact reason. The last time I was there I was bounced around so much by the three people sitting behind me it was insane. I even said something to them, which didn’t make a difference. It really is too bad.

JiggersMemberTalarico’s has the best seats period for my fat a_____! Comfort is a huge plus. I’d be more inclined to stay and spend more if it wasn’t uncomfortable.

KimberleyParticipantSemele – that’s just plain rudeness on the part of those sitting behind you (dumb @*$(*) – my tolerance for rude people lessons as I age.
Jiggers – thanks for the info, I may need to take my fat arse down to Talarico’s on a non-quiz night to check them out.
