JanS – regarding your “head of the company” analogy. I agree that 6 months is pretty early for a full evaluation, however…I don’t think that simply being better than the last guy or not making the same mistakes as the last guy means that the new guy is perfect. If the new guy makes mistakes, then so be it. I’d hope he would be accountable and move forward to remedy it.
Personally, I’d hope the new guy is evaluated on HIS performance…regardless of what the last guy did. If every mis-step by the new guy is excused away by comments that “well, the last guy did x, y, and z wrong”…then is that really the correct way to evaluate the new guy?
Anyway, that’s what gets to me. I wish we could discuss Obama without the conversation always going back to the prior presidents. :(
