The only thing to worry about afik is power consumption. I knew a guy in the salvage business that set up 50+ sparq 20’s in the 90’s to use for seti@home. He had to take them down when his power bill exceeded the value of the computers.

Sparq 20s are real power pigs compared to current systems though.

I use a rack of servers to heat my garage in winter. I had to retire the sparqs and the pentium D’s due to power usage a few years ago.

Core2 with sata drives run much less power in use and when idle. Atom cpus run on even less.
