Just got a note from a Highland Park resident who wanted to alert people to the break-in at her home near 16th and Cloverdale (map)- read on for details:
Took place during daytime hours on Friday July 17.
Details–Second floor window screen slashed, suspect kids climbed up over front entry to get to stoop roof, then pushed slider to make six-inch gap (instead of four-inch gap), entered house, opened drawers, took a bunch of earrings, bracelets, glasses, rings, a Sony Walkman CD player and a lemonade. Nothing of “real” monetary value–but a couple items of sentimental value. Seems as if they were kids and in a big hurry.
Sewed up screen and found longer, sturdier stick to secure slider. Total items taken probably about $300 max, so really nothing else to do about it.
Talked with neighbors. They all knew other people who had the same thing happen to them. If I get started listing what was taken, or talking about how I feel about it, I will never stop, so–I’ll spare you any more.
