WSB Forums reader report: Pedestrian vs. vehicle on Barton

Thanks to “gatekrasher” for posting an eyewitness report and photo in the WSB Forums about an accident of some sort on Barton between 16th/17th (map). This call was on 911 as “medic response” and we don’t automatically roll on those; heading out now to see if police are still at the scene and if so, to see what we can find out. 7:16 PM UPDATE: Talked to Officer Jeff Kappel in the Seattle Police media unit; his info says it was indeed a pedestrian-vehicle accident and one person was taken to Harborview Medical Center, but that’s it for details.

My partner and I have yelled at kids on that block so many times about darting out in front of cars!! It’s a really crowded block with lots of parked cars on the side. Hope the injuries are not serious!

I heard the sirens – a LOT of them – heading to the scene. Shortly thereafter, I went to pick up my partner from work nearby. I *almost* called you, TR, to let you know about it, because the entire street was blocked and there were so many emergency vehicles.

Next time (knock wood that there won’t be one) I will call you.

thanks. I hope there won’t be a next time, too. we usually get tipped, or we hear the sirens since we’re up on a hill, but I’m afraid that’s a bit of a blind spot. still, very cool that the forum OP not only posted a report but also used the (image source) tag to get a pic in there. Anybody over there confirm that it’s open again? When I talked to PD, they were fairly sure, but I’m not able to go confirm that at the moment.

I’m about 6 blocks away and already in bed (lazy + old = bed before 8 on a Friday night! :)) else I’d run up there and see. I think mellaw is right by there. Mellaw, are you able to tell whether the street is back open?

Sorry, comment time is over.
