Hancock had its last day on Saturday. We were in looking for big bargains. We were told originally that Hancock was going to continually mark down the prices to get everything out of the store. Turned out not to be true. What we were told on Saturday is that the developer was going to buy out the remaining stock after Saturday so they could get on with demolition and building.
What would Blue Star do with bolts of decorator fabric?

From what I understand, new construction on Fauntleroy Place is on hold until the latest design goes through the Design Review Board (August 14th) and a new/revised Master Use Permit is applied for and issued. The old MUP, for the old design is no longer valid. To hear more about the new design and give community feedback, please come to the JuNO meeting on Tuesday, July 8th at 6:30pm at Ginomai.

We’ll probably see all the surplus stock from Hancock being sold at Big Lots pretty soon.

I’m going to do my best to make tomorrow night’s CC meeting and be heard on the back-door tax collecting disguised in “green” that is the 20-cent per bag proposal. Enough is enough. Holding the local gov’t accountable for the frivolous ways they already spend our tax dollars is the solution; not gaining more revenue with new taxes and wrapping it something ‘green’. What a joke on all of us.

The JuNO meeting tomorrow is your opportunity to ask questions to the developer as to why the design was switched from the brick design to grey on grey with no attention to Alaska Street on the day of the groundbreaking. I attended several meetings of the Design Review Board and was very pleased that Blue Star was responding to the Boards’ requests as well as the neighborhoods. Now that has all changed and we all begin anew. There would be no need for a new MUP if they were to build what was agreed upon last winter and have been promoting since.

So, if construction has been put on hold, and may I assume demo too, is this site going to sit vacant for MONTHS on end, including tagging of the vacant building, should it remain?

    .

It sounds to me like Blue Star was quite anxious to boot Hancock out of there, what with buying the remaining fabric stock, (lovely window dressings for the condos in the building?) when Hancock might have been able to remain awhile longer (and perhaps even Schucks) and still conduct as viable business as possible under the circumstances?

    .

I hope you attend to ask that question. Fauntleroy Place is critical to the expectations of Blue Star and any further developments that follow. One hour of personal time will make an impact on our community whether you attend the meeting(s) or write your preference to City Council and the Department of Planning.

Sorry, comment time is over.
