Think spring: West Seattle Soccer Club registration begins

Another local kids’ sports league starts registration today: the West Seattle Soccer Club‘s spring season. It’s open to players ages 5-12, and it’s a fairly low-impact commitment – games on Sunday afternoons, no practices, various fields around West Seattle; the season starts April 6 and runs for six weeks (no games on Mother’s Day) — $40 per player. You can register any time from now till March 1 by going to the West Seattle Soccer Club website (click here), where you will also find lots of news about the league — which has a fall season too (with almost 1,300 players last year!).

Are there any adult soccer leagues within West Seattle?

I would love to join a west seattle soccer league! I’ve never heard of one, so probably not; but I hope I’m wrong!

There are no adult leagues in WS, but there is a new Futsal center opening up at the old White Center skate rink (www.gingafutsal.com). Futsal is Brazilian court soccer, and is what Pele and all the great Brazilian players use to train growing up.

Beyond that, there are leagues that play in the greater Seattle area (www.gssl.org, http://www.wssa.org, http://www.co-recsoccer.com), and sometimes play on fields here in West Seattle.

There are also leagues through Arena Sports on East Marginal Way and Starfire Sports down in Tukwila.

Does anyone know if there are area youth leagues in the area for football? I know there are teams at Interbay but is there anything in WS/Burien?

M- you need a new screen name. I’ve been using ‘m’ for quite some time. I certainly don’t want anyone thinking I want to join a league because my friends know I can’t stand soccer and have turned down a few that have asked me to play with them!
