I was watching NWCN the other day when the announcer starting talking about another war cranking up in the Middle East. There was a picture of a missile striking a building somewhere.

    [Yawn]

Not a big deal. Just a couple of hundred people killed. Mostly civilians. Lots of women and kids, as usual.

OK, so that took about 30 seconds to get out of the way. Then came the headliner. It seems that some poor doggie was trying to get through a crosswalk when he was hit by a car. And get this: The driver was too busy texting on his cell phone to even give a crap!

The second piece was about a minute long and featured close-up shots of the dog with its leg in a cast.

    Awwwwwwww . . .

    *****************************************

    So here’s the News Perspective:

Children getting blown to bits by missiles = 20 seconds of coverage

Dog getting hit by a car and surviving = 1 minute

Who’s watching this stuff again? Oh yeah.

–And these are the same people who say they’re worried about global warming?

Good luck with that one, my friends. If you can figure out a way to tie global warming to this picture, then go for it.

    Otherwise, forget about it.

    No puppy, no story.

    Period.

yep, no one ever said we had our priorities in order…

    #778019

We don’t have our priorities in order that’s for sure. I once said we should get our priorities in order and care more about a recent human victim of rape and assault near Roxhill Park and I was criticized. A lot of people care more about dogs/animals than humans which is amazing to me but it is a free country.

    .

Just so it’s clear, I don’t want to see animals hurt or made to suffer.

DBP, if I have strayed from your point, I apologize.

By definition it is nearly impossible to stray “off-topic” on any thread of mine.

It is far more likely that you would stray onto one.

Likely better for this DBP post if Bill Clinton was hit by a car and broke his leg…*

*(NOT Hoping, endorsing, wishing, or advocating for Bill Clinton to get run over or break his leg now or anytime in the future)

Well that would be a “dawg” story… and he is an old dawg at that. No cute factor. When has it been not so that the innocents bear the brunt? Funny thing is, on an industrial scale, we pioneered targeting civilians en masse as “legitimate” warfare. Unrestricted warfare was the term I believe. When asked how he could justify the use if incendiary bombs over Japan, (sure to set ablaze residences and cause massive civilian casualties, also see Dresden) he remarked ” the smell of Pearl Harbor made it easy”…. we do pay for the governments we tolerate.
