TishMemberHello,
Some of the flashing around the chimney got loose on my two-story Tudor-style house with a steep roof line and it needs to be repaired or replaced. Does anyone have any recommendations for whom I can call? Ideally, I’d like to find a local roofing company that is reasonable and willing to take small jobs like mine.

anonymeParticipantI recently had a roof replacement done by Legacy, and I was very pleased. However, I’ve found not many roofers will take such small jobs as you describe. Do you even need a roofer? What about a chimney specialist?

TishMemberYes, it’s a small job, but it’s a necessary one I’m afraid. Water is starting to leak through the opening so it needs to get fixed asap. I plan on contacting Chris above, but I’d like to get a few bids just to be safe. Does anyone else have any other roofing recommendations?

kayoParticipantWe had Ace Roofing (now Berendt Roofing) do our roof a couple years ago. I don’t know if he does small repair, but worth contacting. Super nice guy and a pleasure to work with. We needed repair work in addition to the reroof job and he was happy to do that for us as well. Highly recommend.

WSBKeymasterI have no stake in WS Roofing (we have no roofing sponsors and have a roof that predates our home purchase 20 years ago, so we have never PERSONALLY dealt with any local roofers) but after looking at that link, I do want to point out lest anyone not look for themselves, that the “poor recommendation” is only ONE recommendation, the only one of any kind on that page.
ANYONE can post a bad review there or anywhere else – I am not a big fan of review-only sites like Y*lp because they seem so easily gamed (having had to closely watch recommendations here for five years, I know what it takes to watch for manipulation). Just a datapoint. This is why we for example have a nominal rule that before you rant about a business, you need to include information on how you brought the problem to the business’s attention BEFORE taking it to the public arena.
In any event, thank you for seeking out opinions here, from actual local West Seattleites, and I hope you find the perfect company … TR
