Rave – Duo's on Avalon

Going to an evening show? Looking for a place to go for small plates and delicious drinks before? The new place on Avalon, called Duo’s, is wonderful. Interior is redone, and warm and inviting. The food is delicious. A friend and I went this evening before a play, and it was yummy. Lumpia (the small crispy deep fried type, not the egg roll type), cold asparagus soup, really excellent apple salad with greens, apples, candied walnuts, and dressed to perfection. Then come the crab cakes and sliders..OMG! And dessert? vanilla gelato with salted caramel sauce, and a cookie (pizzelle-like), actually 2 cookies held together with more caramel. Needless to say, will definitely be going back. Oh, and the wait staff is great, patient, attentive.

This weekend is their grand opening…go… :)

but she failed to mention that both the crab cakes and the sliders were so good that we ordered a second plate of each…

they may still be working out a few logistical bugs but their food is exceptional… and they have created a very comfortable atmosphere to sit back and enjoy it…

oh.. and for those of you who don’t indulge but would love to join your friends in a cocktail.. the non-alcoholic mojito was the best mocktail i have had yet..

served in a glass that paid homage to the fact that it contained no expensive alcohol..

at a price that made me smile.

i don’t know when i have enjoyed a night out so much.
