I believe the quote was from around 2000. To make it clear, he was referring to his prison guards after being asked about it.

So, is 2000 a long time ago? Not really.

Petraeus continues to shine a light down the dark tunnel even when his well respected colleagues differ greatly on the direction this administration and McCain is taking.

McCains campaign manager tried to “make it clear” in 2000 and John McBush spent several days following that statement trying to also “make it clear” that he was only referring to his captors and not all asians or Vietnamese. No one but the wingnuts and the usual pundits bought it then either.

The bottom line is this. Either he is a Republican or he is a Liberal. Being just a bit to the left of Attilla the Hun does not make him a liberal or even a “maverick”.

The Republicans have had control of the executive branch, the legislative branch, the judiciary and the supreme court, the corporate media and the federal reserve.

Everything they have touched has turned to shit. What most do not realize is that disaster was their goal.

Denying that it is shit is all that’s left and Petraus is doing his part for the small pile of shit he is responsible for, by repeating over and over his assertion that though it looks and smells like shit, it is really manure.

Petraus knows shit when he sees it but he has tied his wagon to Bushco and will continue to do what he is told to do. He could have pulled off a counterinsurgency operation (as could anyone who followed Petrauses own counterinsurgency paper) if he had been handed the job 4 1/2 years ago (and enough troops and (CA specialist), but by the time he was called in, Rummy’s DOD and Cheneys idiots had filled the corral to thigh deep.

Sad that most of those that were responsible for the downsizing the amount of troops requested are retired and living like lambs with a nice pension we’re all paying for.
