HAPPENING NOW: Letter-writing gathering

IMG_2396

These photos just arrived in the WSB inbox, with this explanation: “Happening now, letter-writing campaign at Admiral Bird! Come down, write letters, meet cool people until 10 pm.” They’re writing to not only the White House but also other elected officials in D.C.

Yippee! So glad to hear that y’all are doing this. Any chance of a weekend brunchy postcard writing time at the Bird?

Way to go! I like the brunch idea too!

Great I did this tonight at home. I also list all the Washington State Senators and Representatives on my Facebook Page.

Keep the pressure up! I’ve been emailing our senators and congresswoman almost daily. I’d call, but the lines are always busy – which is a good sign.

Will you be doing this again? Please WSB post it before the event if you are.

We will if we get word of it. The arrival of these photos, minutes before we published them (we can’t always turn things around that fast but last night was a no-meeting night) was the first we had heard.

I’m a bit concerned about one of the subjects listed, “Giving Christian’s Priority”.   What are you saying?  Ignore all other religions?  Is this what you want to write about?????  If so…no thanks.

    • CMT February 1, 2017 (1:33 pm)

John – I assume that refers to Trump’s stated policy of giving different treatment to Christians seeking to enter from the identified countries (i.e., giving them priority).  In other words, the letter writers would be taking the position that this is unfair/inappropriate.

    • Kristen February 1, 2017 (9:10 pm)

This was in response to Trump saying he would GIVE Christian refugee’s priority.  We have no issue with anyone’s religious beliefs or practices however we feel like this is blatant discrimination and racism.

It’s refreshing to see people constructively engaged in getting their point across, and not rioting / screaming / crying.  This is how what democracy looks like – hopefully these ladies will set an example for others to follow over the next eight years.

Mike I recall your ilk threatening civil war, revolution and assassination if Mrs. Clinton won.

      I haven’t seen 1. riots, 2. screaming or 3. crying.

Trump’s 6 months will go by quickly, then you can enjoy your sundown years in peace, out in the pasture (with the other octogenarian GOP’ers).

8 years??!?! Ha that’s the funniest thing I have heard all night.

Sorry, comment time is over.
