TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Summer Fest Friday edition

Happy Friday! It’s Day 1 of West Seattle Summer Fest in The Junction: The tents are up, the streets are closed – specifically, California between Edmunds and Genesee (though east-west traffic on Oregon is allowed through) and Alaska between 44th and 42nd. Bus reroute specifics (each link is a PDF from Metro explaining stop and route changes):

*RapidRide C Line
*Route 50
*Route 55
*Route 57
*Route 128
*Route 773 (Water Taxi shuttle)

Once the festival begins at 10 am, we’ll be covering it live. First, the rest of the commute:

(WS bridge and Highway 99 views; more cams on the WSB Traffic page)
We’re monitoring as always; if you see/hear something, let us know – but not until you can safely/legally do so (if you are a passenger, or once you have reached your destination) – text or voice any time, 206-293-6302.

P.S. One major weekend closure in the region – the 520 bridge closes again late tonight through early Monday.

Apparently the reroutes weren’t conveyed well to metro drivers the 630 driver took the normal turn and by the time he got to avalon we had missed two stops of people.

The web site really does a poor job of it too. Figures.

Probably doesn’t help per what they need to know but we’ve been publishing the reroute/stop-change info links here for three days…

colleen, it’s very typical for the drivers to not know about the reroutes (for whatever reason).

Hey WSB do you know anything about parking at the summer fest?

    • WSB July 11, 2014 (2:04 pm)

Most of the usual parking areas are open – the Junction’s 3-hour free zones among them – any specific place you’re wondering about?

We also had driver miss the re-route and drive right past us. We walked to the stop by Les Schwab and caught the next bus but many passengers confused and stopping driver trying to figure out bus changes.

Sorry, comment time is over.
