Comcast trouble in West Seattle? Should be over, or soon

Several have asked about Comcast trouble in the past hour-plus. Via Twitter, @ComcastWA said a few minutes ago “Washington state customers whose services were affected by issues should be back up or coming back up.”

Highland Park/S. Delridge, no problems here with TV or Internet.

    .

I’ve been on both since 7:00 am, other than on a trip to Thriftway between 10:30 and 11:45.

Comcrap having trouble?! No thats a first! Not!

Don’t mean to rant (actually yes I do…), but i for one am tired of the low quality of service that Comcast provides. Where I am at, they are the “only game in town” and they know it.

How many folks are as tired as i am and would be happy for an alternative provider, or have recommendations? I used to be with Qwest (tells you how long ago that was…) but switched to Comcast when the house we purchased in Arbor Heights was not within the “Service Area” to provide DSL or other services.

SO sick of Comcast and Century Link. Comcast has been down intermittently all day today, which is actually not unusual. It goes down for us at least daily. I wish they would start refunding us for the time down. We have called and complained many times.

Agreed with @Charlie; Comcast only tries to provide a decent service when there’s competition. We had years of terrible service at our condo until CondoInternet came around. A month after that they started losing everyone in the building, suddenly cut everyone’s prices in half, doubled the speed for free, and called multiple times EVERY DAY promising less crappy service. It didnt matter though, CondoInternet was still cheaper, 10x faster than Comcrap’s fastest speeds (which is falsely advertised as well, you only get those speeds for the first 5megs or so, then it throttles back, read the terms of service!) , and completely reliable; too little, too late.

I pray that we’ll be able to dump them at the house someday, where go figure they had no interest in offering the same discounts as the condo, which was on the same account!

there is an alternative provider but they are only doing a pilot project in the junction area for business. unfortunately us remaining poor slobs have to put up with Comcast’s spotty service in the meantime. 2014 and still not enough competition for these services.

Our Comcast has been down all day. Tech team quoted 5pm fix, it’s almost 6pm and nada. We have a call out to their service folks who are supposed to ring us back…not holding my breath.

    We’re in the Alaska Junction.

We’ve had problems on/off in Highland Park for weeks. We wondered if Comcast oversold their bandwidth.

Wow, give a corporation a monopoly and they provide somewhat less than stellar public service!!?? Who could have possibly seen that coming?
I’m with you, Charlie, sj2, Robert, et al. We need to get OUR representatives to get to work on providing competition, even if it comes from a public utility.
In fact, if it MUST be a monopoly, then it absolutely HAS to be a public utility.

  • dawsonct January 7, 2014 (8:29 am)

    Or accept public price controls.
You can’t control the market and control your prices at the same time.

Wasn’t there something posted either here or on the Seattle Times, in the last 6 months, about cooperative internet access, which a neighborhood created for itself? It sounded like a neat idea, but I can’t seem to locate the article anymore.

Jenn – not here unless it was in the forum. I tried a few times on Google and am not bringing anything up.

I dumped Comcast for HD signals over the airwaves. Better picture quality and saving a ton of money!

Sorry, comment time is over.
