West Seattle weather: Burn ban ends; possible ‘light snow’

11:26 AM: Two weather notes: First, the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency has ended the latest King County burn ban, saying, “An increase in wind speeds is expected this evening and possible precipitation later in the day. Pollution is not likely to build to levels that are unhealthy for sensitive groups and clearing is expected once a front comes in and wind speeds increase.” Second, the latest version of the National Weather Service’s ongoing “special weather statement” alert still foresees potential “light snow” this afternoon. Let us know if and when you see some – we’re on watch too.

11:55 AM: A bit of VERY light flurrying in North Delridge, tweets MetPatrick.

    Very light at 26th and Hudson but the clouds are getting heavy. Let it snow let it snow let it snow.

    Looking at various model output for today tonight and tomorrow ( AM ) it appears that moisture will be VERY light and limited for the immediate central sound. The HRRR model ( High Resolution Rapid refresh ) is showing virtually no precip for anyone in W. Wa it’s entire run ( to 4 AM ) tomorrow morning. The NAM (North American Model ) shows very sparse and light precip. However there is now a weak surface disturbance embedded in NW flow aloft moving into the area in the next couple hours possibly further moistening the lower levels increasing the chance for more widespread precip which would be snow.

    I will continue to monitor the models and conditions throughout the day and night for any notable changes should they occur. Keep in mind that any snow that ” DOES ” fall will be very light and accumulations will be generally be under or up to an inch MAX.

    Stay Tuned!!!

    lol…Alki lady…I am on 42nd just east of Admiral Safeway, and there is no snow…not a flake. The sky is very gray/heavy, and temp is down to 34, so you never know what might happen, but nothing right now :)

    @AlkiLady

    You’re fine right now, feel free to run for it ( no real need to though )

    Its SNOWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But only just a little right now, not the dumping of Snow one might dream of for a Winter Wonderland! . . . . Yet!

  • Chris W December 9, 2013 (10:37 pm)

    Noelle, where are you? (Just a general idea will do). Nothing here at California and Dakota but there is definitely moisture in the air.

    • WSB December 9, 2013 (10:39 pm)

      General consensus seems to be there was a dusting an hour or so ago in Admiral. Have not seen a solitary flake (OK, maybe I missed one or two if I wasn’t looking out the window) here in Upper Fauntleroy!

  • Chris W December 9, 2013 (10:46 pm)

    Thanks WSB!

    Admiral district. It stopped snowing a while ago . . . but there was a flurry for a bit . . . hope there is more to come!

Sorry, comment time is over.
