West Seattle Crime Watch followup: Pickup driver pleads not guilty

Following up on last month’s deadly rollover at Delridge/Kenyon: The allegedly drunk pickup driver, 43-year-old William K. Edmon, was in court today and pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide and reckless-endangerment charges. Michael Fisher, also 43, died after being thrown from the back of the pickup Edmon was driving when it rolled after running a red light clipping an SUV late the night of July 27th. As reported here and elsewhere, Edmon was driving without a valid license – as had happened at least 13 times before, according to his long record, which also includes two DUI convictions. The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office says the judge is keeping Edmon’s bail at $1 million; his next hearing is tentatively scheduled for August 29th.

Hooray to the large bail amount and hopefully he’ll be put away for a long time since he’s a repeat offender and can’t seem to learn from his mistakes!

Thanks for the follow ups .. (something mainstream media is terrible at doing) .. anyway, just wondered if you knew any follow up / additional info on the motorcycle/jeep fatality at California and Oregon? Thanks.

    I can’t believe he’s not out of jail yet…

I have driven past the scene of the crime several times since it occurred, and I have noticed that the deceased’s associates have put up a makeshift memorial to him. I find it sadly ironic that much of the memorial is composed of beer cans and alcohol bottles.

I’ll bet if the punishment were automatic castration for a second DUI, there might be fewer repeat offenders.

LOL WestSide45…. But what about the sex with the redundant X gene?

Not that I don’t agree with your statement.

Driving without a valid license, which he had done at least 13 times prior? And two previous DUI convictions? This always mystifies me. How does this happen, that this man was even out there sharing the road with law abiding drivers, and continually getting stopped and cited for violations like this? Now he’s killed someone (might I add, what a great friend to plead Not Guilty). Does the “three strikes” rule come into play at all here? Hopefully he’ll never get out again. Make an example out of him, lock ’em up and toss the key. Good riddance.

Of _course_ it wasn’t his fault. He was drunk.

No one has said what his blood alcohol level was?

Sorry, comment time is over.
