West Seattle weekend scene: More Sunday road work

December 2, 2012 at 3:39 pm | In Safety, Transportation, West Seattle news | 3 Comments

Last Sunday, it was the Delridge/Andover “bike box” … this Sunday, more West Seattle road work, this time for lane reconfiguration in the 3200 block of Avalon Way (map). Thanks to Avery for the tip, and the photo; when we went through the area earlier this afternoon, crews were removing the yellow lines that currently bracket the center lane. To the northeast, the Avalon/Genesee signal is in the works; bike lanes on Avalon between the bridge and 36th are on the SDOT “current project” list from the recent Delridge Greenway open house. We’re checking with SDOT tomorrow to find out about the full scope of exactly what crews were up to today, and doing next.

  1. I wish SDOT would re-stripe the east end of Admiral Way. Last night, coming off the exit and going up the hill I could not see the lane markings.

  2. Zip – have you called the problem in to the SDOT hotline at 206-684-ROAD? And/or reported it online – you can use the pothole form since it’s also for street maintenance and seems to have a section down the road, so to speak, for comments and explanations : http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/potholereport.htm

  3. I’ve had that same problem before especially on rainy nights. As a result, I’ve given up driving at night. Since I have a cataract in one eye, I thought maybe it was time to have it fixed. Do others have a problem seeing the lines on Admiral Way?
