West Seattle Farmers’ Market gets squashed: Zucchini 500!

At the top of the “hill,” that’s Mike LaFranchi from the Kiwanis Club of West Seattle, during today’s Zucchini 500, an annual tradition at the West Seattle Farmers’ Market. Kids got the chance to make their own “racers” and then try them out. More photos ahead:

The Farmers’ Market had chef demonstrations today too – photos from those (and the lone entrant in the odd/ugly squash contest), a bit later.

Farmers’ Market folks tell us that if you’re a home food grower, keep this contest in mind NEXT year, and grow something to enter! Meantime, some chef photos from Sunday are still in the hopper.
