Neighborhood alert update: More Seaview “scavenging”

A new sighting this morning from Jonathan, following up on the reports shared by BB two weeks ago and by Renae three days ago– details ahead:

Tell Seaview residents to be on the lookout for a white male in his early 20s with short dark hair, some scruffy facial hair and wearing a gray fleece or white ski jacket with maroon and black stripes/accents. This morning as I exited my yard into the alley between 46th and 45th, Graham and Raymond, I surprised him as he exited the backyard gate from a house on 45th and Raymond carrying maybe six ā€“ eight three-foot metal pipes. I said hello which startled him. He walked about six houses down and entered the yard on the 46th Ave side. Later, I returned home and spoke with my fiancĆ© who said she saw a man ā€” matching my description ā€” at a 1992 maroon Buick Skylark parked on 46th and Raymond change from a white jacket to a gray fleece. Two other neighbors also saw the man exit from that yard with the metal pipes. The cops were called and two officers were dispatched and have been searching the neighborhood.

Jonathan adds that the Buick is reportedly registered to a West Seattle address different from the one where it’s been parked “for almost a week now,” possibly with someone living in it.

Y’know I think that car/resident camped out at our neighborhood too in Arbor Heights say 2 months ago! He must move around.

The vehicle has an Easy Street Records sticker on the gas cap…if it’s still around later, I’ll get some pictures of the vehicle and post.

I live in the same block. My wife and I will keep an eye out for him.

This guy is well known to the Fairmount neighborhood blockwatch coalition as a former resident and a ne’er do well problem child. He was released from Jail Xmas day after about a month inside. We know his name, his license plate number and car and we have multiple facebook pictures a neighbor kindly distributed to our block watch emailing mailing list. The Blog won’t post his photo, but he has blue eyes, somewhat dark heavy eye brows, somewhat broad nose, dark brown wavy hair cut above ear line and neck, full lips, broad porcine type nose. and medium to small build. Hopefully since he can be identified as having stolen metal from specific yards by witnesses, they can pick him up again for another round in jail.
this guy has a girlfriend and kid who may live in the neighborhood, and a no contact order for a resident in the area.

836 YNS is the license number that has been reported as associated with the maroon Buick-posibly skylark used by this guy. Keep an eye out.

Thanks for the info, AJ. Sounds like the guy…and yes, there was a woman with him/at the car during the past week.

Sounds similar to a guy I saw trying to get into our yard. We live on the corner of Graham and Fauntleroy in a townhouse. Our building has 4 units and our front patios are all interconnected, are several steps above the sidewalk and are enclosed by gates and a fence. Additionally the two end units have gates from the patios leading into their side yards. On Monday night our dog went nuts around 11:30/12 and ran barking and snarling out the back dog door and up to the gate to the patio. I looked out the window to see what he was barking at. There was a man on our patio backing away from our side yard gate. He was wearing a black jacket, green t-shirt and jeans. He had similar coloring to one or our neighbors and I thought for a split second it was him until I noticed he was a little shorter and stockier, and his hair was shorter. He had opened our gate into the side yard, which set our dog off (sorry if he woke anyone up!) Then he walked across the patios to the furthest neighbors patio and disappeard from site for about 5 seconds, then went down the steps to the sidewalk. I couldn’t tell if he went around the corner up Graham or into their yard from the sidwalk (they also have street access to their yard). Makes me so glad to have a dog. Glad he was actually barking at something this time! Hopefully knowing he is there will keep this guy from our building in the future.

My wife and I just saw the woman this morning as we were leaving for work. She was having trouble with her car parked on 46th. We helped her push it, but after reading these comments I’m not so sure we should have.

One of our neighbors called the cops and is keeping an eye on her. Not sure if anything can be done, because the male was not around.

do you have description of the woman or car

  • Jonathan January 6, 2010 (10:06 pm)

The car was the maroon Buick skylark, 1992, mentioned earlier and the woman was shorter, say 5’8″, mid-back length brown hair, pulled back in ponytail…and loud. My fiance said she was picked up by the suspect in a gray Chevy minivan, 1990s-era, boxy-style van, possible license plate number 388-???. She cleaned out the Buick…bags, quilt, etc. into the minivan. The police arrived minutes after they left…

    Can we post his name?

    • WSB January 7, 2010 (1:23 pm)

No names until and unless someone is charged with a crime, or police put out a bulletin asking for help in finding a suspect, which usually only happens in a life-safety case, though they did it with Ryan Cox, the homophobic-graffiti suspect, once charges were filed. If you are working with the community police team officer and feel there have been enough problems that they should consider putting out a bulletin – I don’t have this name so I don’t know his history – I would urge you to see where they stand on that. – TR
