Neighborhood alert: Seaview scavenger

From Renae in the 6000 block of 45th SW (map), a sighting she wanted to share – read on:

Around 9:15 (this morning) we came downstairs to find a man on our back deck. He was rifling through our pile of construction debris. My boyfriend confronted him and he left toward the alley. He started to go behind our neighbors house. My boyfriend and the neighbor confronted him. The man said he talked to “some lady” who gave him permission to take stuff out of yards but could not name or describe the person. We’ve never seen the guy before. He was in his mid 20’s, skinny, black coat and jeans, dark hair and very noticeable cuts on his face. We saw no vehicle. He walked to Graham and we didn’t see where he went.

any word on what all of the police were looking for a little bit ago ? 12:45 ish? went for a taco run to Marination and there were cops near High Point, on 35th, near the cemetary, on Brandon near Delridge, and then sounded like they were up at 16th also, near SSCC.

Checking on that. Probably related to the sighting we just got several notes about – regarding a car being pulled over on The Bridge – about to post separately while we check it out – TR

The cops almost ran me over!!! Literally 12 cop cars. One van and one guy with his hands in the air! About to be cuffed!

So was the guy you discovered on your deck black, white, Hispanic what? For those of us keeping an eye out for him this would be helpful. If he’s green colored this would make him especially easy to find.

around 6.30 this evening there was a guy on the corner of Graham and 45th/46th who was standing on the corner shouting at passing cars….maybe the same guy? He had dark hair and was thin, it looked like he had a large bag or box by his feet. I’m afraid that’s all I noticed.

More to this story! My neighbor found a box of clothing behind his house right after this guy left. We thought it was taken from a clothing donation box. I ends up it was from our other neighbors basement. The door wasn’t locked so they guy must have wandered in and taken the first box he could.

Our scavenger is at it again. This morning at 8:20 he (white guy, white jacket, dark hair, dark pants) crossed my neighbor’s yard heading westbound with a load of pipe on his shoulder. He seems to be attracted to the area around the 6000 block of 45th Ave SW. We live near the north end of the block. A new neighbor behind us on 46th saw him head south down the alley. SPD stopped by to investigate, said he was last seen heading north and urged us to call in.
Look for a big pile of rusty metal, he’s probably not far away.

Yep, I’m Gary’s neighbor and it was the same guy Renae saw. Very noticeable cuts on the right side of his lower face…funny, because I’ve had a big pile of rusty metal in my yard for three months (old plumbing) and he has no interest in it. Selective thievery…

Sorry, comment time is over.
