UPDATE: Deadly shooting in Roxhill Park lot
5:23 PM: Seattle Police are on the scene of what they say was a fatal shooting in the 9200 block of 29th Avenue SW. We’re en route and will update when we find out more.

5:35 PM: Our crew says the victim is in a vehicle near the north entrance of the Roxhill Park parking lot. (photo added above) Also, police on the scene include Chief Adrian Diaz.
7:05 PM: Chief Diaz talked with us and other media at the scene, though he didn’t have many details yet. He said a nearby resident called 911 and police/fire found the victim – described only as male, age not yet known – in the vehicle.
He said officers have been talking with neighbors and looking for video. (He had no specific description to offer, but radio recordings include one officer telling dispatch that one residence’s video showed a silver sedan with five people.) He also talked about trends in general, saying that the rate of shootings in the city had been dropping for a few weeks until an uptick in recent days. He said West Seattle mirrored that trend and mentioned an arrest of one suspect believed responsible for multiple incidents in South Delridge (likely a reference to this case). 8:14 PM: This is the second West Seattle homicide case in five weeks; no arrest announced so far in the previous one, a man shot and killed in a Puget Ridge house in early November. It also is the third one this year; the first was in June, when a man was shot and killed in a tent in Delridge. That one did result in an arrest, and the suspect remains in jail awaiting trial.
Odd.. I was driving passed the park on my way home and saw this vehicle and thought it looks suspicious with all the doors open… saw some questionable men walking around it.
Call and report it to police immediately please.

You are seriously deranged if you think advising a potential witness to a murder scene contact police is somehow a bad idea. Why exactly? Because it might somehow disenfranchise the poor?? GTFOH with that mushhead nonsense.
Ridiculous comment. Clearly the person you replied to meant those details would be an important factor in this investigation. Describing who and what they saw to police could lead to suspects being ID’d.

Police say only that the victim was male.
Explains why we have been waiting almost an hour for someone to escort an apparently homeless man smoking crack from our stairwell outside of an apartment with two little boys in it. And yes I know it’s crack, my in-laws were addicted. And yes I am assuming he’s homeless due to dress and his many bags. Prayers of comfort for the mans family. I lost someone close to me from a drive by and it is a horrible thing to go through.
Hopefully with Lisa stepping down, the encouraged and incentivized lawlessness and the violence that comes with it will regress. Sad for the victim and family :( and the residents that have to deal with this.
It is a fact that crime is up everywhere, even in “law and order” conservative crap holes.

Why so many shootings, a lot of arrogant messed up thinking going on. I’ve seen the way people drive and scope out people around here white center and Westwood is messed up. Shady characters in the backround the police need a better presents to deture crime that’s what Tacoma is doing. Mind you these shootings are near schools and parks and shopping centers. We need a better police chief for Seattle. And king county sheriff’s department is a corrupt joke
Tacoma is doing nothing of the sort. Tacoma is rampant in crime and shootings. Who are you kidding?
Shameful that the neighborhood parks have become so unsafe for those who they are meant for. Children can’t even play at Roxhill because it’s constantly overrun with RV waste and adults who have no business loitering in a park.
Speaking of scoping out, I suspect this was a targeted killing as opposed to a random one.

Moved suddenly & unexpectedly to WS 7 mos ago to escape neighbors’ meth activity (making/using) in my apt bldg(s) in the “nice suburbs” (happened to me 3 times!) Now I witness an armed robbery last weekend and a fatal shooting occurs yesterday a few blocks away. Prayers are first and foremost with the victim’s loved ones, but where can someone go and be safe from crime? I have moved 5 times in 4 years.
FWIW, wealthy, gated, guarded communities still have drug abuse and suppliers, but try to keep the associated violence outside the gates or within the homes.
