I live right there, that explains 2 things. The sudden plunge in the rabbit population and the increase in missing cat posters. It’s also about 100 yards from Fairmount Ravine.

My daughter and I have not seen Fluffy a cute bunny with a white tail in a few weeks.

Pet owners keep your pets inside, the Coyote’s have a right to exist and it’s not fair to them if you are irresponsible and your pet becomes food!

They aren’t the cutest when ripping your cat up alive. thats the harsh truth.

Thanks for that. Now I have that image in my head….Meanwhile my sweet cat is snoozing on my office floor… the only time she gets any outdoor time is when she’s safely zipped up in her carrier. She gets about 2 hours of outdoor time a day – during lunch and dinner. We place her where we can see her. She loves the outdoor time.

If you have outdoor cats they kill a lot of small animals, including birds. There are a bunch of pictures of cats every year raiding nests and killing little baby birds. That’s definitely not cute. I can’t stand seeing them in my yard hunting birds. I honestly hope that native coyotes can help get this problem under control, either through controlling the outdoor cat population or motivating owners to bring them inside.

Reason number #101 to keep your pet cats inside.

Saw it last night just after 10 pm while walking home from the Admiral Junction down on 37th near Hinds. Looked pretty young. Maybe a year or 2 old

Interesting! I’ve never seen them in our neighborhood. Always figured I was too far from a green space.

Pets depend on “us” to keep them fed, loved, safe, and alive. They are a domesticated animal not a wild animal like a coyote, raccoon, eagle, hawk… they don’t have to hunt for their food like the before mentioned. So if a pet comes up missing…well…🤔

Never fails that in these type of threads the  wild nature crowd always unsheath their claws and fangs.  Yes, it is really, really painful to lose a pet, whether it is to a coyote, or raccoon, or cougar, or whatever.   My chi-chi was viciously attacked by a flock of geese last summer (yes, they can kill a small animal).  it was a momentarily lapse of awareness on my part that almost killed her.
