I was saddened to see the sign last week as I missed the report here. Lee’s is a great (and I think only?) green grocery in west Seattle. Today I bought half dozen apples of many different varieties, including many I can’t find at the Basic-Dad grocery stores I otherwise visit. At Lee’s they are 1.29 a pound, both organic and conventional. I’m really hoping they continue to make a go of it!

It’s like a member of my own personal Sesame Street passed away. I will miss seeing Ms. Nasatka, and the gentle nods and smiles we exchanged. I thank her and her family for bringing the neighborhood healthy, affordable food all these years. My heart is with them as they grieve such a tremendous loss and work to carry on.

She will be missed. Thank you to her and her family for all they have done for the neighborhood.
