WEST SEATTLE COYOTES: Two pair sightings
Two of the latest reader-reported coyote sightings were pairs:
FAUNTLEROY: A texter reported tonight, “Coyote spotting…10:30 p.m. Two full-sized on Tillicum Rd across the street from Lincoln Park near Cloverdale.”
GENESEE HILL: Tim reported that on Tuesday night, “I believe I saw two coyotes crossing 55th Ave SW near Andover St about 9:30 PM … It appeared the coyotes were coming up the power line right of way that goes down the bank. That same night, in that same area, Rob saw this one, and sent us the photo via Twitter/X:
If you haven’t read up on coexisting with coyotes yet – especially how to avoid unintentionally feeding them – here’s the state Fish and Wildlife Department‘s advice.

Saw 2-3 coyotes walking near the Orchard St. Ravine this morning around 6 AM. Looked very healthy compared to no so healthy ones that previously hung around our neighborhood a few years ago.
Not so pertinent but might interest someone… once probably more than a year ago I saw fresh scat on a big rock on the point in Lincoln Park and wondered what animal had defecated there. It was wet enough it was obviously recent. Thought it looked a bit like coyote poop, but I’d never seen or heard coyotes near there. I thought, what else could it be? Otters? Did an image search for “otter poop,” saw photos that looked exactly like it. Came to understand, over weeks and more, there are three big rocks there where otters love to poop. Every time I walked by there I’d look for fresh scat and usually there’d be otter poop that wasn’t there last time. If you examine it, especially if it’s broken down a bit in the weather, it’s almost entirely small fish bones.
I hope to see a few fashionable pups soon: https://www.coyotevest.com/
Hard to tell if this is paid spam or not but … wow.
Nope! I’m in the Lincoln park area :)
Could hear Coyotes yipping at 49th and Genesee last night around 11pm. It sounded very close- and I know we have a few outdoor cats around the area. Was super worried about the cats!
And even LESS pertinent, took the 12:20 ferry to Bremerton today and on one of the big red channel marker buoys I saw a large mammal. Looked at them with my telescope and thought, that looks too big to be a California sea lion and be so light in color. I think I saw a Steller sea lion. So I’m wondering how rare that is and if anyone else has seen any recently.
Just saw a coyote running across Juneau at 37th Ave sw. 10:30pm
