I can’t fathom the mindset of a restaurant owner who opens for dine-in (sometimes with a bar!) during a pandemic, closes because of infections of staff (and likely patrons,) then opens AGAIN to repeat the process!  Are we perpetually stuck in the denial stage?

It’s survival. What if it’s two years until a vaccine? What if one never comes? At some point we’ll all have to make a decision for ourselves as to the level of risk we are willing to take. Look around the world, and the best success cases are having flare ups. Lockdown is not a permanent solution. If you are at high risk, stay away from public spaces. Everyone else, where a mask, wash your hands, and roll the dice if you wish.

I so appreciate their transparency with the community and taking care of their employees and customers as best they can. We will patron them again soon for take out.

I know each restaurant owner has to make the best decisions for their business & employees & of course customers &  I respect those that are open & honest about Covid issues. We, too have to make best decisions for us & our families.  For me, that  means  with a few exceptions -not dining inside -at all.-definitely not  inside at a restaurant that has  closed  for Covid . We all make choices- the restaurant owner & the customer.

From over here it’s hard to understand how business owners come to the decision to offer dine-in.  The additional health risks to staff and customers, added expense of purchasing more food, often perishable, that may go to waste if they have to shut down,  etc.   One thing that gets in the way of my ordering more take out is wondering about the food on hand.  Is the restaurant I am considering moving through their perishable food quickly enough that I can be confident in the freshness of the food I purchase?I guess what I am trying to say is, it must be a difficult position to be in and I am sorry for all the troubles of our small businesses.
