I heard 10 or so *pops* around 1:30 near the Starbucks/Safeway Gas Station. If it was gun shots, it was two different guns because there were different sounds. Five or so minutes later there was another *pop* further away in the direction of the Met Market. And then one other *pop* a few minutes after that. Wasn’t followed up by any cars peeling down Admiral East.

I was one of the people who called 911 about possible gun shots in North Admiral about 1:30 AM last night. Thank you.WSB for letting us know it was fireworks..  it was very alarming, given all the shooting and killing going on nowadays. It would be great if the people that did these fireworks have some consideration for people that are trying to sleep., as well as how alarming that is in the middle of the night. Fireworks are illegal in Seattle.. hopefully you can figure out a way to celebrate that has some consideration of other people.

I am certainly sorry for your concern. But gunfire and fireworks are only similar on the condition of sharp, immediate and somewhat surprising sound.I don’t think you’ve ever heard a “gunshot” because they are VERY different in reality from fireworks. Gunshots are more stacatto and lilting. Fireworks are more bassy and full.Like I said – all are surprising especially at 0130 – but there is a noticeable, knowledgeable difference.

<yawn 937> No one cares about the different sounds and whether or not knowledgeable folks can tell the difference. What folks do care about is being disturbed at 1:30am. I call in fireworks at 1:30am as possible gunfire because I hope whomever is causing the disturbance is busted; regardless of whether or not I was knowledgeable enough to have gotten it correct.

Except for people who may be in firing range, I absolutely do care between the difference. Lying to law enforcement to get someone “busted” is unnecessary and also illegal.

How bizarre that you would think someone is lying to police!  Geezzzz….

They were loud but didn’t sound like gunfire at all. You could hear the fizz of the firework after the pop. It certainly was rude and it went on for too long.

Someone did the same at 4am the previous morning in Dragonfly park. A neighbor said it was someone in a white SUV with a box of 15 fireworks (if I remember correctly). Seems like they came to set them off and leave fast.
