West Seattle Crime Watch: Suspects arrested after Morgan Junction-area street robbery
1:32 PM: Police are searching for three people believed to be involved in a street robbery in the Morgan Junction area. We don’t know exactly where the robbery happened – per scanner, a “phone and belt” were taken – but police are focusing on the south end of the Morgan business district right now (south of Fauntleroy). More to come.
1:39 PM: K9 has joined the search, which is also extending into nearby residential areas. And now there’s a report of three people “detained” somewhere in the search area.
1:46 PM: The search continues while police sort things out. The actual robbery apparently happened on Fauntleroy, west of where the search has been focused. Added a photo above of the K9 team that has been searching – some possible evidence was found in that strip mall off California south of Fauntleroy; the area where possible suspects were detained is east of there. Meantime, the victim is described as a juvenile.
2:10 PM: Arrests have been made (photo added – in west Gatewood).
If you’re seeing continued police activity in the business area, that’s because more potential evidence was reported to have been found in/near the nearby McDonald’s.
3:44 PM: All three suspects taken into custody were juveniles, SPD confirms. We’ll be checking tomorrow for details from the official report.

I heard the suspects running East on SW Holly Street (across from McDonald’s) approximately 10-12 minutes ago, followed by police cars a few minutes later. Police still running around the neighborhood on foot and in cars.
I saw one of them running away, it was in the business park with the Dominos, gas station and teriyaki place.
Go SPD K9!!!!!
When my dog started going nuts (I live on the alley behind McDonald’s) I was curious what was up. When the canine team stormed they the neighbors yard I’m all whoa dude, so much for cozy west seattle. I often talk to myself in the third person like that. Cause who doesn’t ? Anyhow yeah a bit scary.
Love to hear more specifics on this case as they come to light…
Aren’t juveniles supposed to be in school at that time?
School? School? We don’t need no stinking school!
Most are. But there are a variety of circumstances that could have meant otherwise (class schedule, skipping class, dropouts, etc.). I’ve just obtained the police report (followup to come) and it reaffirms that the three suspects were juveniles, and booked into juvenile detention. The victim, initially described as a juvenile, turned out not to be – he was 18 or 19 (a birth year of 1999 is mentioned but not which month).
Juveniles? Awe man, they face no punishment other than released back to their parents. Just like the Toshi’s robbery suspect who was out walking in Westwood the following day.
All three were booked into juvenile detention, according to the report, which I’ve just obtained.
I don’t know what it means, but I find it interesting that a story about a juvenile being robbed in the middle of the afternoon garners only 7 comments, but a story about a temporarily removed mailbox gets 25 comments. I feel like there’s a thesis in there somewhere.
McDonalds in large cities are crime attractions. Its the walmart of food
