what looked like rain from my front window is clearly snow from the back:)

i don’t want it to stick. it won’t kill the weeds and it might kill my starts which are nestled up against the house but not in the ground.

when will i even learn to wait till there is no snow on the hills around me ;->

woo hoo! JoB, it is snowing like crazy here. I am as excited as a little kid. Even if it doesn’t stick, it is gorgeous! I hope your plants survive – I am sure it will be sunny and 50 tomorrow… :)

In Minnesota, we gave up iced tea for the winter. here it is year round:)

JoB, your post about giving up iced tea in Minnesota reminded me of cocktails which (to me) are seasonal. Warm weather cocktails such as gin and tonic with lime; or a melon-ball I thought would be in order soon. But last night I just couldn’t have a gin and tonic with all this talk of snow! “Make mine a Manhattan” for now.

Otherwise, its like wearing white before Easter!

it’s after easter…and i haven’t pulled out the white yet ;->

even the dogs think it’s too cold.

they went out into the snow for all of 2 minutes and wanted back in.

of course, they have shed their winter coats but they are Minnesota dogs!

i guess not any more:)

I can’t believe it’s snowing! We lived in Chicago for awhile and, sure, it will snow there well into May! Is this normal?

dang! it’s definately sticking.. i just peeked at my deck.

i am going to finish my hot chocolate and feed the dogs their warm lunch (it’s cold) and if it is still at it i will be forced to put on some clothes and go take care of those poor plants.

JoB, sometimes snow is the best insulator for tender plants. Odd as it may seem, if there is a freeze tonight, a blanket of snow might be just what mother nature ordered for your tender young plants.

I’m certainly not a master gardner (know that by lookng at my yard) but this snow blanket I do know about. Maybe a call to West Seattle Nursery would be helpful. And, it could keep you indoors for a few minutes more.

i moved them under the deck next to the house where it is warmer. they were definately covered with snow…

we will have to blanket them tonight .. or later today if it gets much colder.

i can tell you it is cold.

i only had three trays of starts sitting on top of the soil in an elevated bed next to the house… and collecting and moving them was enough to make me pretty cold…

and i was wearing my minnesota sleeping bag coat… but couldn’t find gloves:(

i think i will stay in today:) dogs agree.. they didn’t want to come out with me.. just stood at the door and barked to let me know i should come in:)

if the snow gets deeper.. i will try to send another picture… but i am sure there is someone out there who is an actual photographer going after the pictures now:)

hubby would be if he were home.

oooh, I didn’t realize the baby plants were in flats. Definitely they needed the shelter then. I don’t know what the temperature is predicted to drop to tonight, but if there is some warmth there, they should be fine. Basically, you have done what nurseries, hardware and other stores are doing; snuggling them up close to a heated building.

And I bet the dogs are “communicating” to each other…”and she barely had sense to come in out of the snow!” ;~)
