West Seattle, Washington
29 Friday
Black and white long haired English Shepherd (looks like a border collie) who lives in West Seattle escaped between 12 am-4 am Monday 11/26/18 from a friend’s backyard in Seatac (31st ave S and S Military road near the Riverton Crest Cemetery) while I was out of state. He is very unfamiliar with Seatac and it’s unlikely he will return to friend’s backyard. DO NOT CHASE! This dog is extremely smart, loves dogs but is fearful of humans and loud noises. Please call if you see him or have seen him. 406-581-4217. His location may still be Seatac or he may have traveled elsewhere. Plan to use dog trackers if we have an accurate sighting report.
Back a few years there was a dog that was lost for a while. The dog took up residence in the woods by SeaTac. I recall there was a massive search for the dog by many. Lots of posting of signs, and much more. As the signs were placed further out from where dog actually lived, a lady contacted them about a dog that would come out of the woods for food. By this time it was presumed the dog had gone feral, so the owner learned how to get her dog. She went to the area where the dog had been seen coming out of the woods for food and waited. Sure enough, he came out. She did not know what to expect after all the time that had passed. She had treats, etc ready for him. The dog recognized her and went running for the van and it was a grand reunion. I am sure many involved remember the story. I may not have exactly right however as I remember it. Some dogs find their way home somehow too. Suggest placing posters over a wide area, contacting vets, etc.
(dog owner) Hi Joan. He is more likely to get spooked if someone else were to call his name so I have not included his name on flyers or social media posts. Even on a good day he is suspicious of people that know his name. But his name is Larry. Thank you for asking!
Is this guy still missing? I see his flyers up near where I work and can spread the word at my workplace.
This (my) dog has been found. He died after being hit by a car and was not discovered until days later.
