West Seattle, Washington
14 Saturday
A young man named Avery, who just moved here a week ago from So Cal, was walking his and his roommate’s dogs. Somehow he lost control of his roommate’s dog, who ran right out onto Genesee near Avalon and was hit and killed by a car. Several of us gathered, trying to find the owner because when his roommate’s dog was killed, his own little black dog, Nelly, freaked out and ran in the direction of SW 30th and Genesee, maybe even up to Yancy, where 30th is blocked. There are many homes here but the dog is unfamiliar with the neighborhood and Avery is in very bad emotional shape. A bunch of us have cruised the streets looking, but no luck so far.
If you see a little black dog, please hold on to her. Call Avery at 949 887 8548.
UPDATE: “The search area is much bigger than I posted earlier. The little black dog, Nelly, could be anywhere from Youngstown to the West Seattle bridge. Eyewitnesses at the YancyAvalon bus stop told a neighbor that they’d seen her, streaking by, looking like she was heading to the bridge. If you live anywhere from the WS Bridge to Genesee, from Delridge to Avalon, the dog could be in your neighborhood.”
This is so tragic. I’m so sorry to hear about your roommate’s poor dog. Really hoping that Nelly has been found. Please let us know. If Nelly is still missing, can you (or one of your neighbors) post a photo?
