datamuse: yeah I did, but you have to read it between the lines of the Whippersnappers on bikes deserve to be run over rhetoric.

I offered a couple of explanations of what happened and why. It then spun into, DAMN THOSE BIKES I HATES EM ALL AND THEY DESERVE IT.

wow RonM! such a tempered response from you!

mind giving me your license plate so I know which prius to shoot at because you have just threated me with deadly force?

way to pave the way for understanding.

I know this is really hard for you to understand, based on your insistent arrogance, but the bicyclist do own the road. Along with everyone else who pays taxes on their home. People like to go off about licensing and gas taxes, which are irrelevant to bikes on roads.

lets try all caps so you can skim the main points.

the dude on the bike was hugging the curb, so cars could pass. YOU DIDNT SEE HIM. bikes are allowed by law, TO TAKE THE WHOLE LANE AS A VECHICLE, they are also allowed to GO SLOWER THAN THE SPEED LIMIT WHEN TAKING THE LANE.

Yeah the dude flipped you off, boo hoo. Build a bridge and get over it. Sorry your big tough ego couldn’t handle a dude gesturing at you, after you honked at him in traffic, which as above, is LAME AND DANGEROUS.

rahvas: I never said the bicyclist was guilt free. But based on the OP’s tone he seems to feel like he had been victimized in some way thats nonsensical.

re pdx cyclists: riders in pdx have many laws on there side that makes drivers much more wary of the altercations that are common in Seattle. The law is ambiguous in many cases and cyclists have much more to lose when run over. so they tend to be more aggressive.

which segways nicely into why a dude would flip off some random guy who is honking at him. Honking at people riding is seriously lame and unsafe. What would you have the cyclist do? Stop in traffic to address your concern? Dart onto the sidewalk? Its idiotic to expect any *good* outcome from honking at someone on a bike.

I agree people just need to chill out, but I dont see this as black at white as the OP is trying to make it out as.

WSB glossary update= OP = origional poster

janS: Ok, I forgot you know the mindset of every bicyclist and my obvious explanation of what probably occurred is simply too fanciful for you to fathom. I have NEVER seen any of these things actually occur on the road either.

also, drivers are always without any guilt, even when they are in cars that have enough issues with *not* making noise that congress addressed it.

    http://www.opencongress.org/bill/110-h5734/show

I blame the driver due to his hypocrisy in the matter. I have a hard time blaming you for your misunderstanding, because of how hard life is for you, and how easy it is for you to blather on as a expert on every post.

I actually hit someone last week, because when I yelled “on your left” they jumped left right in front of me.

They were walking three across talking in the bike lane on the waterfront downtown.

your opinion is cute, but ultimately useless.

POST #48 REBORN! EDITED FOR CONTENT AS WSB DELETED POST – I MISS GEORGE CARLIN

Renters, who make false claims about bicyclists not paying taxes, in fact themselves do not contribute to the primary method of road taxes in seattle, the general fund, which is primarily taken from property taxes. I myself happen to be a property owner as well as a cyclist therefore I take offense to your statement. you cad.

however this is not intention to focus on the statement itself but the post.

I think people are missing the point, I ride this route often, and I usually end up riding in the road if alki is really busy, because I am legally alloed to take a lane in seattle, which has been discussed here before at length. On days where I end up on the bike trail I do my best to alert and approach people in the bike lane safely, it often fails due to: rollerbladers with 4ft swaths, double wide strollers with oprah talk, teens walking 5 wide, teens playing I can throw the foot ball into the air and catch it above my head in the bike lane, and my personal favorite, hey there are no skateparks and I suck at skateboarding so the best place for me to practice ollies is in the bike path.

Personally people can rant at length about the bikes being evil, but I don’t want to give someone whiplash because they decided to suddenly walk left in the bike lane while not looking, causing a crash. The I can walk where ever entitlement is bad at best and dangerous at worst.

oh and PS, the bikes on the road analogy only works if bicycles weighed 3000lbs and suddenly stopped in the middle of the street to talk to their friends.

Well keep caring less then. My whole point is someone like jiggers complaining that bikes need to pay taxes is absolutely ridiculous, as he doesn’t pay the tax in question himself. The end.

you seem to have gone off on some tangent where you thought I said I was owed something, Maybe you should re-parse my rant and start over. Unless you can point out a section where I actually said I was owed or better than you or anyone else.

ps: I am hoping to get out of work soon so I can ride home in this glorious weather.

The short stop is best used for their impossibly wide selection of cheap beer. It would seem they also cater to your porn, bad gas station fantasy knife collections, and *water pipes.*

You buy food at your own risk.

SO AWESOME!! you just accidentally invoked Godwins law, and made yourself out to be colossally idiotic at the same time.

So you realize you just basically quoted a Nazi party line just then? And as the resident conservative you just asserted that large government was cool cause it keeps you more safer.

you sir are the best troll this BB has.

Sorry Al but I am calling shenanigans on your “talking with various groups” I went ahead and emailed pretty much everyone you listed, (except Seattle likes bikes, as they are just the quasi web presence of a couple of guys from point83 ) and the overwhelming response was they were not soliciting information from West Seattle currently, but you could submit to your hearts content anyway.

I find it interested that it hasn’t occurred to anyone that these people who are killing you with posted corporate policies are basically minimum wage ( or close to it ) drones just trying to get through the day without having to explain why they took back possibly stolen merchandise.

Most large stores design their policies so that the people facing customers have as little control over the situation as possible. To deter theft as well as to “streamline” day to day operations.

While its great shopping at a mom and pop who will cash a personal check, or dealing with costcos amazing return policy ( which has been reigned in in the last couple of years due to abuse) its totally unreasonable to expect the low paid mangers to endanger their jobs for you and your lack of reading comprehension.

House: Its a amusing attempt to show hypocrisy.

You seem to be advocating the nanny state cart away a piece of private property on public land because they are leaving it out past the 72 hour rule. Which reminded me of the recent conflict at volunteer park where the neighbors were complaining about the noise from drums during the day.

So if they move it every 71 hours thats fine? so worst case is you get a 72 hour vacation from seeing it every once and awhile. best case is you get someone else’s stuff carted away to impound because you decided it was ugly.

I agree they seem to be playing the system and its obviously annoying, ( and I am sure its ugly) but as the self described conservative you should be a little more open to criticism than to cut straight to insults, especially on the internet.

ps jan: if I was shooting for flames it would be far more colorful of a post and would probably include language like a**hat and the occasional ad hominem attack. I actually look forward to comparing notes with house at the pub on subjects such as creative tax write offs and the best shot shells for home defense.
