WHAT? Beth died?? (Just kidding; we knew!) It does sound wonderful. I read that the woman who portrays Jo is amazing. And this was probably the favorite book of my girlhood. I wanted to be Amy!

Strange. Have you tried putting food and water out for the bird? I assume this is a wild bird, not a pet. We have quite a few people on the blog who are more knowledgeable about wildlife than I am, so I hope they can advise you.

You might also consider calling PAWS and/or Sarvey.

Thank you for caring about the bird!

I don’t always eat mac ‘n’ cheese, but when I do, I prefer West 5. Stay hungry, my friends.

P.S. I tried the mac ‘n’ cheese from a well-known place at the Pike Place Market the other day. It was awful. Even though it was freshly made, the sauce was thin and runny, the cheese too salty, the macaroni overcooked.

Pam, no doubt you love Benny and are sincere, but I would nominate you for Typo (Freudian slip?) of the Year:

“His previous owners had to find a home for him because their new corgi had tried to kill me.”

I know you caught the typo, but I just wanted you to know I got a kick out of it.

Please tell Benny we wish him the very best.

In case anyone is still interested in Thread of the Year (aka TOY, aka TOY Westies), here are some highlights/possible nominees for 2013.

What’s a Real Man? (courtesy of Jiggers)

And Why Men Aren’t Real Men Anymore (also Jiggers)

    Hey Poopyhead

    Gift Left on Bench

    Puns

    Chupacabra (might have been 2012)

    Big Bertha

    Wax On

No charges against diddler at Chief Sealth?

    West Seattle-amazing strangers

What to do about man sleeping in car…

The tunnel will be done in no time! (most intentionally ironic)

Bad Santa commits hit and run

    Warning, disgusting…rat in toilet

    Infamous West Seattle?

Conflicting science in global warming/cooling : 230 posts!

Weird humming sound – High Point Area (not hummingbirds)

    Why are you a Republican?

Spooky West Seattle phenomena (the Hum, the funny smell, the lights in the sky that are not stars), rude drivers, Nickelsville, best (most groan-worthy) puns (209) are all worthy threads. Some oldies-but-goodies: Pooping bandit, and, for scariest subject line, “North Korea Wants to Nuke US?”

    Strangest find: Maine marriage certificate

I like how you think, Seopgal! I am not sure which methodology would work best; perhaps Tracy or Patrick might have a suggestion. Plus, I think they’d know which thread was the longest. Anyone want to start a nominations thread?

By the way, the Biggest Troll is a great idea, Wakeflood. Or, there’s always Most Obnoxious Spam.

Let’s not confuse “clean” with “waxed.” A waxed beaver may or may not be clean, a clean beaver may or may not be waxed. And, yes, it is a personal right to decide whether “to wax or not to wax.” As our hallowed Declaration of Independence put it, “certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Beavers.”

Love TOYs and 2 Much Whine’s categories. I’ll have to buy a new gown and some diamonds for the gala awards ceremony.

True, “Hey Poopyhead” from 11 months ago was a classic. That’s the problem with awards: The earlier ones sometimes get overlooked as award season draws near. If nothing else, it should earn top prize for best subject line.

Definitely the thread of the year, and not even by a hair. Probably the distant runner-up is guy sleeping in car outside house. Or something related to dogs, rude dog owners, rude dogs, people who are rude to dogs, dogs who are rude to dogs, etc.

Best argument against waxing the more-sensitive parts of one’s body: the infamous excruciatingly funny scene from “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.”

Good video, PDieter. I don’t have a problem with sexy people, women AND men, in advertising. It’s just that there’s no subtlety anymore. It’s just crass. The sexuality is so blatant and (so to speak) in your face.

As for Wax On, I think it’s just kind of silly and not especially witty. And I assume, by the same logic, that a clean cock gets more chicks.

I like your approach, add! I, too, am tired of the Obamacare debates. As far as brokers, I enthusiastically recommend Dan Maizel (danmaizel@gmail.com). Phone: (206) 232-1882

Cell: (206) 388-9684 He’s on Mercer Island, but his schedule is pretty flexible, as far as I can tell. He is very knowledgeable. In fact, I found out about him through a recommendation on the Blog about a year ago.
