    JoB,

You are to be commended if you have a legit brain/mental disability and can converse as you do here.

    JoB,

Sorry to be a grammar stickler. To be honest, I was having a hard time following your train of though due to the overuse of the ellipses.

This from wikipedia as to proper usage: Ellipsis (plural ellipses; from Greek ἔλλειψις ‘omission’) in printing and writing refers to a mark or series of marks that usually indicate an intentional omission of a word or a phrase from the original text. An ellipsis can also be used to indicate a pause in speech, an unfinished thought or, at the end of a sentence, a trailing off into silence (aposiopesis).

    JoB,

    Please stop abusing the “…”

It does serve a valid purpose in the english language when used sensibly and sparingly. ;)

charlabob, please explain where I am wrong.

I must be slow-witted. Explain your references to OBL and Saudi Arabia too.

    Maybe you can convert me.

charlabob, your response at #508 to my prior post is laughable. Bush has led a charge to capture and/or kill terrorists and should be applauded for that, even if you disagree with the Iraq war.

A proxy war is happening in Iraq (with Al Qaida/Iran) instead of NYC and the Taliban is crushed.

I suppose your preferred policy in regards to terrorists is shooting million dollar missiles at empty tents like Pres. Clinton?

On other matters, do you all think the Superdelegates should go away after this nomination, or do you like the curren Dem system?

JanS, sorry to butt in. You wrote, “what do you think is the implication, to you, of Hamas saying that they “endorse” Barack Obama”

If I may, I think that the terrorists (Hamas) will ‘endorse’ whomever they think will serve their interests. This implies that they have reviewed the field of candidates and believe that Obama will somehow help them in their cause or, more likely, do the least to stop them in their cause (which is to destroy Israel).

Ok, I’ll butt out now. :)

Ok… this is my first post in this forum so go easy on me.

My wife was in the party of 14. I’ve heard every detail from her and read every post so far.

I think the best summary post is proffered by DSV90 at post #106. So I’m in that camp.

But to those who think nobody should say “Don’t go there anymore,” …isn’t that just the free market at work? If this owner (lintle) had any business sense at all, he would treat people politely, regardless.

Some have said the owner is just all about business. BS. The Alki Cafe only serves breakfast and lunch from April to October. Granted, they can run their business however they want, but if they really wanted to make money they would be open for dinner and year-round. Maybe they would even make enough to hire a real restaurant manager that won’t yell at paying customers.

I will not eat there until there is new management and I will encourage my friends to go elsewhere. I hope the owners find another way to make a living.

Several have suggested they should have walked out but they had already been served their food and walking out then would’ve totally stiffed the good servers who deserve the 18% large group tip. My wife compliments their server, by the way. She was very nice.

One more thing. For anyone that has b*tched about them being there a long time: we actually looked at the receipt. It shows they were out at 10:15 am. They first arrived just after 9 am and were seated around 9:15. So 14 ate and were out in one hour. They had a timeline to keep as other events were planned and there were children to get back to (like mine).

    Newsflash…

Men and women are not the same.

Generally (of course there are exceptions), women are much better at nurturing young children. Lord knows, my son is better off with mom home with him than me!

LBG makes some good points. Notably, that many women, like my wife, intentionally sacrifice career ambitions for making a home run well and raising quality children. Frankly, I’m grateful to her for that choice.

Question (I’m not trying to be provoking, but rather am genuinely curious): Could it be that womens’ pay is lower on average partly b/c employers know that a certain percentage of them will leave the job due to family commitment? What about the facts of higher health insurance costs for employers that have women on staff as opposed to men?
