If you can find something on the Beach Drive side of Alki, you’ll absolutely love it! You’ll be within a short walk to the beach and amenities of Alki Avenue, but won’t have any of the nuisance, even in the summer. We live on the corner of 60th and Charlestown, and we get very little of the cruising and resulting noise and littering. We bought two years ago, and we often marvel at our fortune. I’m never moving ever again. :)
really, williamf64 – crickets? are you busy crafting your alternative facts about that march? maybe someone aggressively leaned against a car, and the liberal media killed the story?
well, everyone needs a hobby, i suppose.
the (REAL) facts are in. to your points:
1) Extra large gas cans for all of the cars that will be turned over and burned.
fact: number of cars turned over and burned – ZERO.
2) Pipes, Clubs and Sticks for beating anyone that dares to speak out against this Liberal love fest of Unity. Especially defenseless women Trump supporters.
fact: number of counter-protesters beaten – ZERO.
3) Rocks, bottles , Bolts, screws etc… anything that is able to be thrown to break the windows on any local Capitalistic exploitation businesses that dare to be in the way of the Liberal Love march.
fact: number of windows broken – ZERO.
4) Spray paint – ( Bright colors preferably ) to enable the installation of obscene threatening messages of liberal Hate / Love.
fact: number of public spaces defaced with spray paint – ZERO.
sorry, buddy – it must suck when reality just doesn’t want to confirm to your world view. :(
I was lucky to be renting a home that had the tankless water heater system, and it’s honestly the best thing in the world. Never experienced any delay getting hot water, and with three adults all showering in the morning never ran out of hot water. If you have the funds, I’d say don’t think twice and do it!July 31, 2015 at 8:54 pm in reply to: Seattle City Council District 1 Candidates – lots of choices #826094
I know Chas Redmond personally and have seen how much work he has put in to make the Alki Arts Fair and Morgan Junction Street Fair successful – all unpaid. I can’t vote (not a citizen), but I would ask anyone to have a closer look and consider him for the seat.
He really is smart, energetic, honest and level-headed. My 2 cents worth. :)
Thanks for the link, WSB! Interesting to look back. Strange, I really thought the change over to Summer Fest was a lot more recent than 2007 (or even earlier). Time flies, I guess… :)
However, still going to call is Street Fair, and I know quite a few folks who will, too.
Consider West Seattle Brewing Company – great atmosphere, great beer, and they just added wine, cider and coffee, too! They’re real soccer fans there, and kids and dogs are welcome.
Yes, spiders are useful and great creatures, but despite therapy I still have a phobia. I’m already freaking out that due to the non-existent winter, the ones in my yard are going to be the size of puppies by the end of summer. *shudders*
A few years ago I did exactly what you’re doing, mom2boys – I pulled my son out of Madison and home-schooled him until high school. The bullying was subtle but emotionally devastating to my child, and after visiting with the school’s staff several times and putting a 504 (and later an IEP) together for him, I realized that no one was going to put a stop to it. He ended up going to NOVA, and loved it – the environment there is incredibly supportive, and he just blossomed. :)
I grew up in Germany, and sparkling water is ubiquitous. The brand in my hometown is Ottilienquelle. Can’t find that here anywhere, unfortunately, but Metro Market has Gerolsteiner, which is also wonderful. I’d buy it more often if it only wasn’t so pricey. :(
That said, I have a Sodastream, too, and I love it. I always buy fresh lemons and just add some of the juice, and it’s so delicious, refreshing, and delivers my vitamin C for the day. Sometimes I get the cherry juice at Trader Joe’s and add a little of that as well – also delish! :)
I looked very hard for a by-line or footnote, but found nothing. Whoever they are, they’ve got my attention! I’m going on vacation next week and now I’m worried I’ll miss the “big reveal”. :(
They’re not still in business… not since 2011, in fact => https://westseattleblog.com/2011/04/were-closed-forever-charlestown-street-cafes-final-day/
pattilea, terribly sorry for your loss. thank you for posting this in your time of grief. i’m of the ilk who will always envision the worst-case scenario, and i’m thankful to you, because just knowing who to turn to if the unimaginable were to happen is worth everything.
my deepest sympathy, pattilea. blessings & peace.
I think all of the interwebz decided last night to troll me today – the dress is white and gold, and everyone saying differently is gaslighting me. bad interwebz, bad! :(
A weird thing happened to me on my way to work yesterday – I live on the corner of 55th and Charlestown. Yesterday, I was heading south on 55th, took a left onto Genessee, and one block up, in the middle of the day (it was 11:30am), two big fat raccoons crossed from right to left. Ambling, and giving me the stink-eye for having to abruptly break to not run them over. I’ve not seen them out in broad daylight, so I was rather surprised. Anyway, that’s why I keep my kitties indoors!
That is AWESOME information, trickycoolj! All my family is in Germany, too, and I fly back every year. Darn, now I’m gonna be HOPING for delays/cancellations!! ;)
When I find a spider, I very carefully get a piece of tissue and burn the house down. :)
Okay, I looked at it again when I got home last night: it’s called Orange Guard (white spray bottle), and they sell it at True Value. It’s in the shelf with all the other bug kill products.
The one thing that’s ever helped in any meaningful way for me is Orange Oil Spray (not sure if that’s the exact name)… I spray it around the perimeter where the ants appear; it kills ants on contact, prevents others from crossing over, and makes the house smell nice (albeit a bit Christmassy, lol).
One other thing – I leave the spray sitting overnight, then wipe it up the next morning. :)
