Sorry – just saw this response. Can you still come by today?January 21, 2020 at 1:15 pm in reply to: Your recommendation for a personal trainer at the YMCA? #969410
Yes, I read the article in the Seattle Times yesterday and was curious.
Yes, the person behind the counter told me they didn’t know when it would happen :(December 19, 2016 at 3:56 pm in reply to: Airbnb lists West Seattle as trendiest city in their Neighborhoods to Watch List #868669
I wish that Salty’s would build the hotel they had talked about a few years ago, right next to the restaurant. Sure would be lovely!
Does anyone know how they are going to define a “dangerous enclosed space” for the dog?
Down on Harbor Ave, we’re having trouble with comcast channel 13 (the station Seahwaks will be on in an hour or so).
Channel 13 comes in but no HD even though it’s available on other channels.
We were very happy with the work that Kelle Boyd did for us. In fact, we got her name from the WS Blog recommendation page when we were first trying to find an interior designer to help us a few years ago. She was great – knowledgeable, talented, friendly, easy to work with and very reasonable – as well as being from West Seattle.
Her website is: http://www.landsview.net
I saw some a few weeks ago at the Bartells in Admiral (across from Met Market).
I heard a guy on the radio the other day joking that they should keep the name Redskins, but change the mascot to a red potato. Can’t you just see the logo? A nice, buttery red potato with a few lovely sprigs of rosemary across it!May 12, 2014 at 6:51 pm in reply to: White Escalade on California Speeding This Morning #808239
We almost got hit by a white Escalade this past weekend driving from Avalon to Fauntleroy. The person was swerving in and out of lanes and stopping very erratically – (like he was either drunk or stoned). He was too fast for me to get his license plate.
My understanding (from talking with people inside Hiawatha)is that it’s okay to walk your dog on the track, as long as you stay off the ball field. (Of course, you are expected to pick up after your dog and dispose of any doggy bags in the trash receptacles.)
Another rave for Zaw’s! We had the Pumpkin Seasonal Special pizza and the Hunter/Gatherer pizza last night during the Seahawks game, and they were both sensational! Delicious (they even gave us fresh arugula and lemon to put on top of pizza after baking), great price, and I love that you bake it at home when you are ready to eat. They have a choice of 3 crusts (and a non-gluten option, if I remember fight). Loved it and will be going back soon!
I believe that Fauntleroy Children’s Center, Europa Kids, and Belle Mente all have after-school programs with vans/buses, that pick kids up from various West Seattle elementary schools.
For boarding, we love Stella Ruffington, just south of the Morgan Junction. We have taken our dog there for 3 + years, both for overnights and half-day care, and he’s always been happy there. John, the manager, is really a nice guy, along with the other people who work there.
For grooming, we LOVE Celilia at Temple of Groom!
Believe there is a space available at ~6030 California Ave SW – upstairs from where the old Jade West Restaurant and Meander’s were – saw the sign yesterday.
My pet peeve is the people who line up in their cars every weekday morning on Avalon SW (just west of 35th SW) for the Starbuck’s drive-through window, AND the people leaving the Starbuck’s drive-through window who turn left out of the parking lot onto Avalon SW every weekday morning. They block traffic going in and drive recklessly coming out. I wish that Starbuck’s would hire some more baristas (or whatever they need to do)to help with this frustrating & unsafe situation.
A fifth recommendation for Superior Cabinets. We had them do kitchen cabinets for us in 2003, a built-in desk and wardrobe closet (w/drawers, etc) 2 years ago, and now they are designing an entertainment center for us. They do fantastic, very reasonable, custom work! Ask for Ryan to help with your design. He is a natural and has great ideas and suggestions that you might not have thought of. Superior has never disappointed!
