    Kayla,

Make sure the exterminator also finds out how they are getting into your attic – otherwise the problem will continue and repairs will be for nothing. Rats can enter a home through quarter sized openings.

My husband Tom and I own and operate a small, local general contracting company TJW Construction, Inc. specializing in hardscape design/installation and custom remodel. Tom has a lot of experience installing masonry, pavers, concrete, etc. If you would like to see some of his work e-mail us at tjwconstcoinc@mac.com and we can forward you pictures or you could come by our home and see his work in person. Good luck with your project!

    TR,

A tell-tale sign you have night-fighting ninja squirrels is the presence of “nut-chucks” in the yard in the a.m.

We hear this sound too. My guess has always been raccoons or night -fighting ninja squirrels. The dogs always are on alert when we hear this sound but just in case it is the raccoons we don’t let them out in the yard.

I’ve always had good luck with white vinegar (best when spot is fresh) followed by baking soda when carpet is dry. Woolite has a commercial pet cleaner but the product’s sweet smell is almost as bad as what you are trying to clean-up. Can also try the local natural pet shops.

Try contacting Oak Floors of Greenbank in S. Seattle. They deal with a lot of contractors and can probably recommend a few. (206) 623-9367 or http://www.woodfloorco.com.

This could read as a drainage (sewer issue) or your sewing needs – consider reposting as sewing or seamstress to get the right input!

    VBD,

Have purchased lilies from Lily Pad numerous times for ourselves and clients, the bulbs are always of high quality and if you order early they are usually very large and produce fantastic blooms first year. Good luck on your hunt!

    VBD,

If you’re thinking of white oriental lilies (Casablanca and others) most don’t bloom until late July/early August, so if it’s an early July wedding you may not have the blooms by then. Have you looked at bulk buying at sites like http://www.lilypadbulbs.com/? If you know anyone with a nursery license they may be able to get bulbs wholesale for you….

Silver polish or ammonia/water solution work – I’ve used both on my sterling silver so they’ll probably work on coins. Also check out this link http://www.silver-coins.org/coin_cleaning.html.

We were on our way home last night around 7:20 and noticed a large jet coming out of Boeing Field and immediately banking left – the plane was pretty low as it banked and then continued to climb as it headed directly across West Seattle – at first, I thought we were going to witness a crash or the pilot was turning around to head back to Boeing Field. Why aren’t these planes going out over the Sound and then banking left once more altitude is gained?

As an old East Coast transplant (as many years there as here now) I’d welcome a Dunkin Donuts here – Krispy Kreme just doesn’t cut it. Top Pot would be good too….. but please no Tim Horton’s!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this weather especially after our 9 inches of snow last winter (but the dogs did love that!). Good weather to be out tending the gardens and the veggies are growing – may even have ripe tomatoes this season! I do have to be diligent with watering (and will probably cringe when next water bill is here) but that’s always the toss up. Love 70’s to low 80’s as long as there is a breeze off the sound – 90’s are pushing it, but at least there’s no humidity like East Coast and mid-west!

    Pampire,

You can use your firepit as long as you have the grate covering over it thus making it essentially a barbeque. The reason I know this is one night many years ago after working hard on our home remodel my husband and I went into the backyard on a cool but pleasant night and fired up our pit (without grate) while we were cooking steaks on our gas grill and enjoying a well deserved glass of wine by the firepit. The new neighbors in back of us whose monstrosity of a house looked into our backyard and caused us to do a bunch of re-landscaping to keep some privacy (and who we since learned is a firefighter) and his next door neighbor at the time called the SFD on us. We were greeted by an engine and full complement of firefighters who told us if the grate had been on it would have been OK, so we had to douse it all while the “neighbors” (I use the term loosely) were watching from 2nd floor deck. Needless to say our well deserved respite was ruined, my husband went to bed without eating the steaks and I (being an East Coast transplant) drank my wine and cursed the neighbors! And yes they were still out there!

If you ask me this whole thread is tiresome – I agree with Lowery, Junebug DROP IT ALREADY what’s done is done and I for one would not want to see you BF’ing in the middle of a furniture store. While I support your right to BF, your “holier than thou” manner is annoying, do it in an unobtrusive manner so that everyone’s sensibilities are respected. Enough said folks!

Talk to the folks at the pro shop at West Seattle Golf Course or try Interbay Golf Course (I know they give lessons) or you might wrangle my husband into a game or 2, his name is Tom Watson (but alas, not THE Tom Watson, although a pretty good golfer).
