jwwsParticipantSueY,
We had a similar problem with postal carriers walking through our yard and squeezing between shrubs to get to our neighbor’s house; we even put caution tape up in our yard to prevent them walking through while we were trying to grow plant material in our courtyard green joints, all to no avail. We even had one gal do the limbo under the tape to cut through the yard and when I confronted her about it she started to walk back over the newly planted area ….
Bottom line, after researching on USPS website, postal workers are allowed to walk through your yard. If you don’t want them to do so you need to put it in writing and submit to the post office. Or you could just try to talk to them, but that won’t stop replacements from walking through your yard….
jwwsParticipantHighly recommend Jim Goss of Goss Floors, we are a general contractor and have used him for our home as well as clients. http://www.gossfloors.com
jwwsParticipantHi Africando,
We are a small, local general contractor specializing in home remodel and hardscape design and installation. We are licensed, bonded and insured and would be happy to meet with you to talk about your project! You can see examples of our work and contact us, should you be interested, via our website: TJW-const.com (also linked under my user profile) Good luck with your project!
jwwsParticipantCan’t say enough about Stacie Yale at Courtesy Accounting. We have used her for years for both our personal and business returns and, compared to some tax accountants that bill like lawyers with varying rates for everyone in the office that can possibly touch your return, Stacie’s rates are fair and reasonable for the personalized service you get. We also used to use H&R Block and had a horrible experience with them. Courtesy Accounting is in the Junction on California right across from the post office.
jwwsParticipantHomer
Mountain to Sound Outfitters on Alaska SW have rentals and can probably recommend some places to go this season as I don’t think the sno-parks around Snoqualmie have much accumulation.
jwwsParticipantUwajimaya usually has them in early spring. Had a wonderful dish with them prepped as CM described but with morel mushrooms in the mix and some shaved Parmesan on top, delicious!
jwwsParticipantAnother shout out for NW Botanicals. They are great to work with and very knowledgeable as well as being a local WS business!
jwwsParticipant2 Much Whine,
We would be happy to take a look at your project and give you a quote. We are a small, local WS general contractor and have current license, bond and insurance. If interested, you can see examples our work on our website TJW-const.com. (Link under my user name)
Best of luck!
jwwsParticipantMaybe something along these lines will help with tree, bird netting around planters or Vaseline?

jwwsParticipantHi Katie,
We are a small, local company that can do this for you. Please see our website for examples of our work and contact information.
jwwsParticipantIf you can approach it try to put a towel gently over it and then scoop up into box. We had a jay with a rat trap stuck on his tail and used this method to capture and remove the trap and he flew away happy. Good luck.
jwwsParticipantRules of rounding. ;-)
jwwsParticipantHomer,
Could be due to any of the following: too much nitrogen in fertilizer, too much water and poor drainage, overcrowding and needing to be divided, root rot or a virus, competion from tree roots or other plants.
jwwsParticipantHappywalker,
We would be glad to take a look at your project. You can see examples of our work/contact us through our website: TJW-const.com.
jwwsParticipantCostanza,
I believe they charge about $45 per hour, while probably not the least expensive, they are very much in line with other landscape professionals we work with. I would highly encourage you to check out their website and blog and contact Diana or Pat with any questions you may have regarding your specific needs.
jwwsParticipantNorthwest Botanicals is a great local company we have worked with for a number of years. They specialize in design, installation and maintenance of sustainable gardens and are wonderful people to work with. Most importantly, they are licensed, bonded and insured.

jwwsParticipantMet market has had it in the past…
jwwsParticipant
jwwsParticipantCan’t say enough about Stacy Yale at Courtesy Accounting, she has done our business and personal taxes for years and is great to work with with very reasonable rates, unlike some other CPAs located near them that charge ungodly fees for every 15 minutes and have varying rates for everyone in their office that touches your return. Located on California across from Post office.
jwwsParticipantI’m not sure but it may have something to do with local media rebroadcasting from the national media, so that would explain Q13 lag time versus what someone in Hawaii was seeing from direct national feed. I know when I was watching Seahawks game a few months ago on q13 and husband was in another room watching on national feed there was a delay between the two….
jwwsParticipantYou cannot just open a topic soliciting customers or posting a “rave” about your own business. Thanks very much to those who spot those quickly and report them. This site is a commercial, advertiser-supported business – just like a commercial newspaper, TV station, radio station, etc. – and if you are interested in advertising your business on WSB, that information is available here:
https://westseattleblog.com/blog/?page_id=4002
Added 9/17/09 for EXTRA emphasis: A “for rent” or “for sale” housing ad IS advertising and falls under the aforementioned rules.
Added 5/30/2010 for clarification: Freebies/deals/sales that you want to post here must be available to everyone – no prequalification such as “mention you read it on WSB” or “offering this if you (whatever).”

jwwsParticipantVanessa,
TR has posted a link for light recycling in the story on the home page, McLendon’s is one of the local sites.
jwwsParticipantI think the UPS store and Staples do, call them first to be sure. If not there is a Seattle helpline that can tell you where to go to recycle them, just google recycling styrofoam peanuts.
