flowerpetalMemberThe OP supposes that bus riders do not own cars it seems. And of course we do, many of us. Commuters make up a huge share of riders on Metro who choose to ride the bus because it is the better alternative to get to a job every day.
flowerpetalMemberkellym, the park is open 10 – 6, Tues through Sunday. I hope you and your daughter get through this rough period in her life.
flowerpetalMemberIt happened in JULY in 1983,1988,1994,2005. And it will happen again in 2016, five years from now, not 823 years from now.
And this whole silliness came around last October when there were five fridays, saturdays and sundays.
Check out snopes.com for urban legends that just seem too good to be true.
flowerpetalMemberSo sorry to read about your pup’s mishap; and such bad timing before a trip. I can recommend Dawdry’s. Dawdry is the name of the company owner’s dog. Ryan is extremely reliable and conscientious. Don’t know what his availability is but I do know that he does overnight stays; and cares for dogs with special needs.
Good luck! And let us know how your search goes.
flowerpetalMemberI left home at 9:00 AM, took a #54 downtown, no problem; no traffic; no hint of anything other than a beautiful summer morning downtown. Glad I didn’t leave by 7:00 AM
flowerpetalMemberThis shouldn’t be a problem for people needing to be to work at 9:00AM on Tuesday. The parade begins at Seattle Center at 10:00 and proceeds downtown to the convention center. It would be foolish to leave WS for downtown at 7:00 AM.
I do wonder how quickly will it take metro to recover for the afternoon commuters wanting to go home.
flowerpetalMemberI’m surprised that nobody jumped on the recommendation of West Seattle Brake; so I will! Well respected, been in business for years (his shop office shows it but don’t judge a book by its cover), I know of people all over greater Seattle who would go no where but.
37th and Fauntleroy.
flowerpetalMemberhollyplace, congrats on your new family member. Sleepers in Seattle in the junction sells recliners.
flowerpetalMemberDP, while Elliott Day can be reached via the number you gave earlier; it is not his number, nor the number for his department or building that he works in. Some conscientious City employee must have forwarded you to Elliott. He is a policy advisor in the Mayor’s Office. His direct line is 206-684-5360.
Last night was a good opportunity to talk with the Mayor and City staff about thoughts on homeless families. There are other opportunities coming up although these might not be in West Seattle. I will list these seperately.
flowerpetalMemberTurkey burgers and toasted buns tonight! We toasted with Manhattans, not summer picnic fare, but enjoyable just the same while the burgers grilled to perfection.
flowerpetalMemberI hope this works out in your favor ws4ever. I recently rented a car from that office. I am particularly attentive during the walk around, but the Enterprise employee was more vigilant than I and noted in writing things I never would have. I believe its worth challenging.
flowerpetalMemberIn addition to what Linda wrote above; many women with children are not permitted at shelters because they are fleeing a situation of domestic violence. Many shelters for families right now are not at undisclosed locations. The belief (right or wrong) is that a shelter puts the inquiring family and others at risk of violence from an abusive partner whom victims are fleeing from. It is extremely disheartening for a parent with child(ren) to be fleeing that situation and then be told they cannot stay at a shelter for homeless families.
And I should add that I have no idea and am not making presumptions about the woman and baby who entered NV yesterday. Just offering another reason why women (usually) and children may not be able to find shelter.
flowerpetalMemberwsmama3, sometimes there is no better fit. Really, sometimes there is no room anywhere else. You are right, WestSide Baby and Family Promise are wonderful resources. And I am sure that they know that there are families who get turned away daily and have no other choice.
flowerpetalMemberThis is a deep rooted problem. If NV turned away a mother with an 11 month baby; the next option might be the jungle; or under a bridge. Homeless individuals; and families are turned away daily for the reason that there is not enough room. The number of homeless families in Seattle and King County is startling and these statistics hold true for the whole country. So, for now, I believe this is a compassionate choice made by NV.
flowerpetalMemberI read this morning via Puppy Perfectors that Finn was found today and returned home. Found by 7eleven at 35th and Barton. I hope this true and trust that Nancy would verify it before making a broad based announcement.
flowerpetalMemberI’m not sure where you could get one at this short notice; but there are flag/banner sales usually at the Fremont fair which is this weekend. Perhaps there. I could scout for you on Saturday. And at the Pride festival next week surely you can purchase one; maybe for next year? Let me know if I can help with that Charla.
flowerpetalMemberThe Route 23 from White Center (or downtown) will take you directly to the intersection of Highland Park Wy and W. Marginal Way.
flowerpetalMemberDawdry Dog Service at http://www.dawdrys.com. Ryan is a great guy, friendly, trustworthy, and does a lot of work in West Seattle. He would be an excellent choice. I know he just finished a job with our neighbor’s dogs while they were away. And don’t let the name of the business mislead. He is good with all animals.
flowerpetalMemberThanks for posting here. I’m a long time State Farm customer. Please consider current residents from Nicklesville. Even if it is a temporary job; it could make someone more employable and your office could play a small part in turning someone’s life in another direction. Thanks.
flowerpetalMemberI had to roll this over in my brain for four hours and then the light bulb finally came on. Disdain… it was so obvious, I overlooked what was being conveyed. I am not the spelling polease. ;)
flowerpetalMemberGoGo, if you are adventurous in the least, you could probably replace it yourself. Bigger craft stores like Micheals has these plastic boxes. We have gutted retro electric clocks and placed a battery device with good success.
Locally I would suggest Russells in the junction as the first place to go. Celeste is their strongest advocate here on the blog. I havent’ used them but I know they are nice folks and if they can’t do it they will know where to send you.
flowerpetalMemberThe Google mapping car visited this neighborhood before Mr Football Martian arrived… but, 365Stairs, I like your explanation better!
flowerpetalMemberDestain? What’s that?
flowerpetalMemberThis sporting martian can be found at Trenton and 30th, SW corner. Right now his chapeau is a cat-in-the-hat style.
flowerpetalMemberThanks for sharing your happy ending. I often wonder about the outcome of some of the posts started here.
