DaveBParticipantRoot Metrics (https://webcoveragemap.rootmetrics.com/en-US) can show you coverage by carrier. It may help you narrow choose.
December 17, 2021 at 12:20 pm in reply to: Anyone got any vintage (early 1980s) computers they would part with? #1023478
DaveBParticipantHey, Jeff-
I don’t have any computers but I have some old software and manuals.
Acma computer user kit (mostly manuals)
Windows NT Workstation (manuals and 3.5 floppies, looks to be complete but I’m no expert)
Windows for workgroups and MS-DOS user’s guide (still in plastic and certificate of authenticity attached)
A bunch of HP laser writer disks (3.5 floppies and CDs)
Waterford early reading program (3.5 floppy and CD)
A handful of 3.5 floppies for a Logitech mouse, Toshiba and 3com peripherals, and digital research technologies windows 3.1/DOS install disk
One Maxell LS-120 dos formatted laser servo technology discThey were left behind by a renter and I haven’t gotten around to recycling them yet, and no idea if the floppies are what they say they are. If you are interested in any or all for the low low price of free, let me know. davebrewer (at) outlook dotcom.
DaveBParticipantIf you are in the mood for good Mexican food, check out Ambakity, it’s near the curio shop. Check out Uncle Eddie’s (on the next block) if you feel like a burger or a sandwich. I don’t know if he’s still there but the chef used to sing out the orders that were ready for pickup. Loretta’s Northwesterner is a bar with good burgers and a blue-collar vibe; they have a nice patio area too.
September 21, 2021 at 2:42 pm in reply to: No Turn on Red new sign removal @ Highland Park & W Marginal Way SW #1016627
DaveBParticipantThis is not an answer to your question, but a response to your comment that the construction didn’t do anything for traffic. I live in N. Admiral and since the changes, the time to get through the intersection whether heading west on Highland Park then turning right onto Marginal or heading north on Marginal then continuing straight through the intersection have both been greatly reduced.

Andy did our floors a couple years ago. Good work for a reasonable price.
DaveBParticipantBirdrescuer-
The locks can cause damage if they build up because the fence ends up bearing more weight than it’s designed for. And aesthetically, I find them ugly (I know my taste shouldn’t be the final arbiter of what gets done, but if I ran the cutting-things-off-other-things division of the city maintenance crew, they’d be at the top of my list).
DaveBParticipantJust got a notice it was undeliverable; I see mistyped your address.
They were on the steps in front of 2202 42nd SW, which is at the intersection of Walker. I’ll resend the photo (to the right email address this time) so you can verify if they are yours or not. I chatted with the owner of the house on Monday, he was thinking of taking them in the house so if they aren’t there you might knock on the door and ask.
DaveBParticipantHi Bonnie-
I think I saw them; I sent you an email yesterday with the location. If you don’t see it, check your junk folder.
DaveBParticipantI have a ton of Asimov’s Science Fiction magazines. They are 5×7.5 inches. Other than the covers, it’s all black and white pages. If you want them, email me at davebrewer at outlook dot com.
DaveBParticipantI used A Razor Edge. They’ve moved to Sequim but offer mail-in service if you don’t find anything local to your liking. https://www.arazoredge.com/
They did excellent work on both knives and garden tools.
DaveBParticipantPossibly here? http://wsjunction.org/blog/junctionresuerecycle2020/
DaveBParticipantThere’s a dropoff bin in front of the 7-11 on Admiral Way, just west of California Ave. It’s often full (there’s usually stuff on the ground next to it).
DaveBParticipantCheck if the owner set up an emergency contact.
Power button > home button (you may have to press it twice). That should show the enter passcode screen. Tap “Emergency” in the lower left, then tap Medical ID. Emergency contact is near the bottom.
DaveBParticipantI second Circa.

DaveBParticipantFYI, your form is requiring an entry on question 5 (Do you or an immediate family member work at one of the following companies?), and there’s no “none of the above” option.
January 30, 2019 at 10:05 am in reply to: Closure of West-bound lane on Horton St between Occidental and 1st – WHY? #939734
DaveBParticipanton board, another option to get back from Costco (I use it often):
-Left on 4th Ave S
-Right on S Dawson St
-Right on E Marginal Way S
-Take the W Seattle/Harbor Island exit (get in the left lane)
-Cross under 99, take the curvy overpass (it’s still part of E Marginal Way S)
-Left on S Spokane St, and that’ll take you to the lower bridge
DaveBParticipantWe used John G. Llewellyn, he has an office just south of the Junction. https://llllaw.net/
He’s easy to work with and we’ve made a couple revisions that were done with no fuss.
DaveBParticipantI was a member of the YMCA in the triangle (I quit about 18 months ago because I wasn’t going). Their recent remodel brought in a lot of new equipment, and the space is nice. I recently started going to West Seattle Health Club, and they have a similar set up, and a women only gym too. (and a snack/coffee bar). I don’t know if either is the best, but they both seem to have what you need.
Out of curiosity, why do you not like LA Fitness? I’ve never been so I have no perspective.
DaveBParticipantMy opinion: Deep dish pizza is a different enough animal from thin-crust (e.g. Mio Posto, Pizzeria 22) and American-style (e.g. Pagliacci, Spiro’s) that “Oh, no, not another <thing that we have a lot of>!” would not be my response. I for one welcome our new deep-dish pizza overlords.
DaveBParticipantA couple things that have worked for me to get cars to stop (or at least slow down):
Make eye contact with the driver and lean out a bit like you are going to step out into the street.
If it’s getting dark, turn on the light on you phone and shake your hand to get the driver’s attention.
DaveBParticipanthttp://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=46.61.235.
If the pedestrian is in the crosswalk, drivers have to stop. If the pedestrian is on the sidewalk, drivers don’t (Section 1), but it seems like the polite thing to do.
This means that a pedestrian has to step into the crosswalk before drivers are legally obligated to stop. And because the pedestrian can’t head into traffic without giving a driver ample opportunity to stop (section 2), it can be a tricky proposition.

DaveBParticipantIf it’s an iPhone, you might be able to get contact info by tapping “emergency” on the lock screen. then “medical id.” If the owner has set up an emerceny contact, their name and number will be displayed there.
Some Android devices offer similar functionality too, but I don’t know how it works.
