Just a note on the turkey chili recipe (#2 above) – I forgot to mention to drain the beans before adding! Otherwise you will have a very watery chili. :)
PS – served it to 20 people today for the game and it was gobbled up.
Quick, healthy, big hit with teenagers recipe for turkey chili:
– brown ground turkey and chopped onion in a large frying pan
– drain any fat
– add one large can of tomato sauce (28 oz)
– add 4 tbsp chili powder
– add 1 tbsp cumin
– add 1 tbsp oregano
– add one can each of black and dark red kidney beans
– mix together and simmer over low heat (I usually let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes but it could go longer to marry the flavors a bit more)
– serve with shredded cheese, chopped onion, and/or sour cream
My kids love this and it’s so easy!
P&P just posted this article on their Facebook page:
We were sad to see Abbondanza go, but have really enjoyed our visits to Peel & Press. I think we’ve been there 3-4 times – take-out as well as dine-in – and have tried their pizzas and pastas. We’re from the NYC area so are kinda particular about our pizza and they do a good one! We really like the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. And yes, the cocktails are GOOD! Haven’t tried happy hour yet but do plan to soon.
Had a great experience with http://www.digmypics.com – got about 1500 slides converted. They allow you to review the images first and you can delete up to 20% of them and not have to pay for them. Friendly and responsive service and kept us updated throughout the process. They do it all in-house (Costco sends it out to a third party, as do many other services, sometimes internationally).December 8, 2014 at 5:04 pm in reply to: Free Ping Pong Table, Great Condition, before game #819974
Also – why doesn’t this thread bump to the top of the page with the recent comments?
There is a small beach/swimming area in the Magnusen Park Off Leash Dog park. It’s so fun to watch the dogs having a blast in the water – legally!
And for non-emergencies, don’t forget that Costco will refill your ink cartridges in an hour for CHEAP!
I second Marination! Especially if your friend is coming over via water taxi.
My kids are teenagers now but I have traveled with them since they were babies, often by myself – even to Europe! These are all great ideas, I like the one about new little toys in their own packaging. Maybe wrap them in brown lunch bags with a ribbon or something so it takes a little time and suspense to actually open it up. :) Bringing their car seats is a good idea, too, but that means purchasing another ticket which is costly these days! On long flights I would take my little one into the restroom (during a quiet/non busy time) and just play in there for a while – looking at himself in the mirror, filling up the little paper cups with water and pouring it in the sink, singing songs, etc. Sounds weird I know but it was nice for both of us to move around and be silly and have a little privacy while doing so. :)
Oh and I loved the comments on what NOT to do – we were on a flight last week where a toddler had a screaming/crying fit for the last 45 minutes of the flight and the mom KEPT messing with him – “you want this? you want that? you want daddy? you want to get down? you want this toy?” … constant!! She was more annoying than the kid!!
I noticed their nice sign is up so that’s hopefully an indicator that they are still planning to open soon!August 3, 2014 at 4:55 pm in reply to: Airbnb: Just wondering how it's going in your neighborhood? #811684
And I had 5 nights in a Paris flat through airbnb that was absolutely perfect in so many ways!! Leaving for another trip and another airbnb rental tomorrow to the Jersey Shore. I’m counting on it being another good experience, have already had good communication with owner.
Just saw a photo on the front page and it looks like a one-day pass is $20, $45 for all three days. Don’t know about cash situation!
Or what about the Gatewood Bed & Breakfast (featured in today’s Pacific Magazine)?
I did a quick search on airbnb and found these that seem to be available that week in WS. I have had great experiences with airbnb for east coast and Paris rentals.
