miwsParticipantFrom the Nickelsville Update Page, Nickelsville is having a par-tay and hog roast celebrating our third Birthday!
Lastly, here’s a 3rd Annual Nickelsville Parte’ Update: In addition
to the Pig Roast, there will be hamburgers and something vegetarian.
We are making Potato Salad and Coleslaw, and our friend Joanne is
helping with other food and drink.
If you can help with something, please contact her at
joa…@brayden.org.
There will be a Parade of Pets, so please bring your dog or cat,
kitten or puppy, to participate. Speeches will be kept to a minimum,
but there will be a blessing of the food.
See you soon!
Come join us for a fun afternoon of food, tours of Nickelsville, a Pet Parade of Nickelodeon’s and Party Guest’s pets, and learn the history of Nickelsville, and plans for the future.
Mark Saturday, September 24th, from 3:00-5:00 pm on your calendar!
Nickelsville is located at: 7116 West Marginal Way SW, near the southeast corner of West Marginal, and Highland Park Way SW.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

miwsParticipantNo need to apologize, Jo.
I know it’s not only been difficult, but you’ve otherwise been busy as well. (So what else is new? ;-) )
Sending a campful of loving vibes up the hill to you!

JoBParticipantI visited the camp today and they are tidying up for Saturday’s party…
they’ve taken some new pictures for signboards
there is a cottage industry emerging in pet costumes
and there is a anticipatory spring in everyone’s step
the weather is supposed to be in the 70s..
a perfect day for a pig roast :))))

JoBParticipantThe BBQ should have been delivered and the guys are likely on their way to get the pig.
A big thank you to the donor who i will call Steve .. though you may know him by another name:)
guess it’s time to go get the hamburgers and hot dogs and black bean burgers…
the Nickelodeans i spoke with this morning are conflicted…
they don’t know whether to hope for a huge turnout or bountiful leftovers… ;->
i think there is going to be enough food for both:)

miwsParticipantA big thank you to the donor who i will call Steve ..
Yes, that, and a big thank you to you as well, JoB!

KevinParticipantI’ll second that regarding “Steve!” Same individual was spotted at camp helping to make the “special” BBQ sauce that will add so MUCH flavor to the pig!
.
Come one, come all – and bring a few cans of food from your pantry if you think of it!
.
No canned food? They will also be happy to accept “green” donations as well.
.
Either way, the BBQ is free. Most importantly – it is a “Birthday party” and the Nickelodians always love to meet their neighbors from the rest of West Seattle!
.
Hope you can make it!

JoBParticipantThe roasting will be “south carolina” style… sort of
with sweet tea and coleslaw and baked beans and …
i can’t wait to get down there this morning and check out the pig. it has been roasting since 3AM…
Yup AM. that’s dedication.

charlabobParticipantI have some very minor dessert contributions — anyone (North Admiralish?) going who would be willing to drop the off for me?
Thanks!

JiggersMemberNope Its college football Saturday. I’m busy. Husky football is in the air today..
September 24, 2011 at 7:47 pm #734670
KevinParticipant@charlabob – if you manage to see this in time, I would be happy to stop by and deliver your deserts.
.
I will be leaving fairly soon. You can find my contact info from my profile, or drop me a line at k3v1nmcc@c0mca5t.n3t :) Just swap the numbers with the appropriate letters.

kootchmanMemberSteve didn’t do a damn thing. He BS”d all morning long, pretty much left all the work to JoB… then went home and left the whole mess for others to deal with. Go figure.

JoBParticipantmiws..
did the leftovers survive till morning?
honestly.. i thought everyone was stuffed to capacity until the minister brought in fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy and i had to scramble to get my dessert potatoes and gravy before they were gone.
I woke up this morning wishing i had grabbed a drumstick to take home with me :->
probably a good thing i didn’t after all … i am still full.
What a great neighborhood party…
September 25, 2011 at 8:04 pm #734675
miwsParticipantYes, it was a great neighborhood party!
And yep, there were some leftovers! I had some pork, coleslaw, and green beans earlier this morning.

charlabobParticipantHey, Kevin — didn’t see the posting in time but I’ll deliver cookies (and other stuff) to NV this week. I’m sure whoever is there won’t mind eating them after the party (and I know the mustard-foote/katsky household will be much better off NOT eating them.
Will there be Kevin photos of the event on the NV web pages? (Kevin takes some great candid shots which I’ve also found on the NV web site.
