    Hi all,

I am going to have to be home for a few weeks to help my Mom recover from Surgery and complications that followed. Because I will technically not be able to work I don’t feel I can claim unemployment. Does anyone know of a legitimate way to work from home and make some money? Thank You

Wouldn’t FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) cover this?

I haven’t been working since August to have FMLA cover it. And isn’t FMLA unpaid leave?

I thought a certain portion of FMLA would be paid. It sounds like this doesn’t qualify for you, though.

You might look into transcription services for law offices, I know they send that out- and that would be something easily done at home.

Best of luck to you and your mom.

Most legitimate work-at-home opportunities result from working for a company for long enough that they feel they can trust an employee to work remotely. Others are skilled people who start their own businesses, or freelance – writing, editing, consulting. Be wary of advertised opportunities. It is possible to make money taking online surveys by signing up with a company, but it’s a *very* small income supplement; I get about 4 per month from a company that pays me $5.00 each.
